if u wan let ppl use gesture, i think they will wan to use voice too.

IIRC, there are voice recognition ability as shared by some posters' articles.

tiagong need intel 4th gen onwards processor then can.

Wah like very expensive upgrade just to play with realsense stuffs

you can use facial expression and head movements also mah. not just hands arms and fingers.

i think can superimpose your face into your gaming character will be quite cool. when you laugh then ppl really will know that you are LOL. as long as can detect and scan your face in real time can liao

sadly 3d printer are still quite new in the market and most households dont own one.. else can see huge market for this

other than having facial expression, head movements or hands legs movement, maybe Intel RealSense detector can built in brain scan~

does this land surveying equipment need a camera sensor inside or just a few lenses~?

Dunno, I am alien to this, not in this industry.
Read that distance measurement can be done with realsense so I thought it can be used in land surveying as well.

To be honest in SG I seldom see people use Dell laptop. Even with this RealSense technology I doubt it will do strong in SG :(

Last time sell Dell laptop also people take other brand brochure and ask me why Dell so expensive :(

The Dell android tablet maybe still can survive (if the pricing not too expensive).

last time dell always advertised on the newpaper huan o

i think consumers may not be a lot as compared to business company

As long as not in top 20 the points accumulated are useless anyway, not like the Samsung rewards where minor participation can still exchange for a 16GB microSD card. Still trying to find an adblocker to block off the rewards popup.

true, samsung give a lot of 16gb ones :o

You already won a Samsung T1 portable SSD 1TB liao..... :s8:

give chance leh :( me looking at 1TB hdd, really need a new one but my current laptop v cui now :o if can win 1st or 2nd prize dell pc with Intel RealSense 3D camera would be the best.. but sure no chance now

Something about Dell Venue 8 700 tablet's Intel RealSense camera

There are actually three RealSense cameras that we’re aware of, two of which are more powerful RealSense 3D cameras. The one baked into the Dell Venue 8 7000, the RealSense Snapshot camera, is the littlest brother of the trio.

The RealSense Snapshot camera is actually three cameras: an 8MP “normal” camera flanked by two 720p HD cameras. All three are mounted on the back of the Venue 8 7000 tablet, spaced about 80mm apart. When you use the Snapshot, you’re using all three cameras to capture a “depth” image. Not unlike a Lytro camera, this allows you to selectively focus and edit an image after you’ve snapped a picture, right there on the device itself.

You can also simply take normal photos with the 8MP camera using the “Single” shooting mode. To use the three-in-one power of the RealSense Snapshot, you use the “Depth Snapshot” mode.

no understand why can't they simply reset the timing daily at 0000hrs ?

this one i agree but timing can be earlier like 10pm etc. like this it give equal chance to those who didn't win the previous contest. now you see every contest is all the same guys who will be winning all the prizes.

More on the camera:

Dell was clear in its various guides that the measurement tool really only works under certain conditions. We were advised to be within 3-15 feet of the subject, make sure to shoot straight on (not at an angle) and ensure that there’s plenty of light. But not bright, direct sunlight. Oh, and we were to also avoid reflective or see-through surfaces, such as glass.

We were further advised to be sure that there were no smudges on the camera lenses; they can cause inaccuracies.

Dell recently pushed out an update that includes a new Dynamic Calibration tool to help ensure better accuracy in depth shots. Apparently, the Snapshot camera calibration can slip over time as you use the device, or even just during shipping. According to a Dell document, the calibration is automatic and occurs while a depth shot is being processed; if there's an issue, you'll see a pop-up notification informing you of the problem (and offering the automatic solution).

When you snap a photo, you enter the edit mode and tap the measurement tool. Simply tap two points on the image to create a measurement. You can fine-tune the measurements using a (rather nifty) feature: when you tap and hold one of the corners of your lines, you get a little magnified look at what you’re doing. It’s delicate, but it works well.

Kinda cool but why do it in the air when doing it on the screen uses same amount of effort?

And the guy look damn funny imagine the interface is turned off :s13:

:s22: but seems tiring having so many hands movement, I guess a mouse can do this job easily~

Wah seems like this Intel RealSense 3D camera has a shorter range than Microsoft Kinect. So it is only merant for close up ddetection and cannot really replace Wii or Kinect

If you’re not already familiar, Intel RealSense is effectively a Kinect, but with shorter range and higher resolution, and fitted in the bezel of a laptop or tablet, like a conventional webcam. Where the Kinect takes in the entire living room, RealSense has an effective range of about a meter, but a much greater resolution and responsiveness within that limited range.

Read more: http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/intel-realsense-gaming-hands-on/#ixzz3plFWfdwm

short range ok since we are sitting close to laptop/pc. Think Intel RealSense 3D is becoming xbox motion sensor tracking technology

read that got conventional camera, an infrared camera, and an infrared laser projector to track your finger and hand movements..

Intel® RealSense™ technology ftw~

Forging best of both worlds for Intel RealSense 3D and Augmented Reality:

The hardware hacking team from TNG Technology Consulting GmbH started to work on a device which is capable to do full field of view augmented reality in March 2015 when the company’s winter retreat was taking place.

The mobile “TNG Augmented Rift” is a full field of view Augmented Reality device capable to do e.g. face tracking, face identification, emotion detection, heart rate detection, distance measurements, etc. Speech recognition for command and control is implemented as well.

The Augmented Rift consists of two cameras for recording the real world. The information gets streamed into the Oculus Rift DK2. The Intel RealSense F200 is used to add features like face tracking, face identification, pulse detection and much more.

The Intel RealSense detector uses an F200 3D camera that can be used for realizing the features mentioned above (near field face tracking, face identification, face landmark detection and tracking, emotion detection a.s.o.). All the Augmented Reality elements we gather are added to our stereo webcam capture to enrich the real world environment capture with useful information.

Excerpt from https://software.intel.com/en-us/bl...ator-t-800-augmented-reality-with-oculus-rift

I guess the real world environment only within 10-20 metres detection~? Can do like 100metres away~?
