Anyway in the first place unless you are some celeb, i dont think anybody will want to use and take depth photos of you.

Safeguard mesaures will still have loopholes one....

This one got LED light meh?

Rather than doing with auto focus, why not built a camera with Light Field Camera~? can focus later~

No need to be celeb mah. What if someone is used to face their monitor screen top half naked?

With 3D Scan, you could even 3D print out your own images.

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/intel-realsense-guide,news-20286.html

Though you won't be able to buy a system with a rear-facing RealSense camera until later in the year, Intel has a prototype tablet that can scan people's torsos and then 3D print them as decorative crystal paperweights.
The potential is there to create not just interesting paperweights, but fully-functional 3D-printed objects. Just imagine 3D scanning one screw in so you can print out another one.

Intel product manager Anil Nanduri told me that front-facing RealSense cameras can perform 3D scanning when used with the right software. Of course, the ergonomics of pointing your laptop webcam at an object presents a challenge. You'd have to lower the lid to just the right angle so you can get a small object in front of the deck and then carefully rotate it or use a rotating platform to capture all sides.

Intel® RealSense™ Camera lets you interact with your device more like you interact with people—with natural movements. 22 Tracking Points Per Hand...:eek:

Then it applies to any webcam then.

just paste a sticker or point the Intel® RealSense™ 3D Camera away if you are not using it then. Im male, so i got nothing to lose if anybody want to 3d scan my body lol.

I feel its not bad la. next time probably can unlock your PC just by simply doing some hand movements like a password. or maybe just by motion tracking.

The guy in the video is making use of the Intel® RealSense™ Camera on the DELL Inspiron 24 7000 to control the PC.

Intel® RealSense™ Camera elevates user interface to futuristic levels by sensing depth and tracking human motion.
Devices with Intel® RealSense™ Camera have three lenses: a conventional camera, an infrared camera, and an infrared laser projector. Together, the three lenses allow the device to infer depth by detecting infrared light that has bounced back from objects in front of it. This visual data, taken in combination with Intel® RealSense™ motion-tracking software, create a touch-free interface that responds to hand, arm, and head motions as well as facial expressions.

In this case, the guy is using his hand to control the PC. With up to 22 tracking points per hand, even playing games with just the Intel® RealSense™ Camera becomes an ease.
One hand only got 5 fingers why need so many tracking points?

Too much tracking is overkill and unnecessary.... :s22:

:s13:

Im just joking haha.

But real consumer uses are what i mentioned, as well as taking photo with depth of field etc.

i think LG phone have the laser part quite similar to the Intel® RealSense™ Camera but probably less effective, since the Intel one can measure distance accurately

Jokes aside, there should be a market for entertainment scenes if realsense technology take off well. Coupled with virtual reality, the clubbing scenes will probably offer more than just flashing spotlight/laser.

The realsense camera probably can have a market in land surveying equipment too.

Forging best of both worlds for Intel RealSense 3D and Augmented Reality:

The hardware hacking team from TNG Technology Consulting GmbH started to work on a device which is capable to do full field of view augmented reality in March 2015 when the company’s winter retreat was taking place.

The mobile “TNG Augmented Rift” is a full field of view Augmented Reality device capable to do e.g. face tracking, face identification, emotion detection, heart rate detection, distance measurements, etc. Speech recognition for command and control is implemented as well.

The Augmented Rift consists of two cameras for recording the real world. The information gets streamed into the Oculus Rift DK2. The Intel RealSense F200 is used to add features like face tracking, face identification, pulse detection and much more.

The Intel RealSense detector uses an F200 3D camera that can be used for realizing the features mentioned above (near field face tracking, face identification, face landmark detection and tracking, emotion detection a.s.o.). All the Augmented Reality elements we gather are added to our stereo webcam capture to enrich the real world environment capture with useful information.

Green Screening Without a Screen

If you're doing a video chat and want someone to see your face, but not the messy living room behind you, a program called Personify will automatically remove the background and replace it with a graphic or a plain white space. In the past, you needed to film against a solid color background to separate your torso from the objects behind you, but RealSense's depth-sensors can tell the difference on its own.

does this land surveying equipment need a camera sensor inside or just a few lenses~?

you can use facial expression and head movements also mah. not just hands arms and fingers.

i think can superimpose your face into your gaming character will be quite cool. when you laugh then ppl really will know that you are LOL. as long as can detect and scan your face in real time can liao

sadly 3d printer are still quite new in the market and most households dont own one.. else can see huge market for this

the RealSense 3D more for close up. i doubt can detect over huge distance.

Oculus Rift not many people own... maybe Intel/Dell/Alienware/Razor can bundle their devices with other hardware
