The G4 had amazing manual mode, for 2015. In 2016 a lot of competitors have caught up and most flagships also support full manual (except Sony, stay the hell away from that one)

Think for Oneplus 3, the reviews Ive seen so far are pretty good for the photo stills and mediocre for video (similar story to huawei P9 essentially). However with the OP3 having smaller sensor + aperture compared to the G4, its low light performance may not be superior.

I agree on Sony, I laughed Xperia X is introduced as "Manual mode lets you play around with things like white balance and exposure", that's actually about it. I'm Huawei P9 user coming from LG G4, despite how much I love G4 performance, P9 can actually do around the same too, though you're better off using their dedicated special mode instead of tuning all the manual control.

ya I seriously considering also... but the only thing truly stopping me is the amazing camera of the G4. manual controls are da bomb. unless there's another phone with such a good camera and dual sim (s7 comes close but... I'm just prejudiced against samsung :s13::s22:)

i was using samsung S4 before jumping to G4.. the board died on me 1 month after 1yr warranty :s22:

so i kinda wanna avoid samsung as well.

Just back from service centre, 2nd time boot loop. Nov last year replaced. According to LG only those MB replaced in Jan 16 they manage to resolve issue. They will replace mine even warranty over last month. Also told them abt the yellow brownish tint on Lcd

my bootloop was 23rd Dec but they only finished the servicing on 5th Jan, so the phone spent the 2015-2016 crossover in the service centre, now I hope mine will be ok. If we go by the "6 month estimate" on how long it takes a phone to bootloop, my G4's been on the replacement motherboard for almost 6 months now that June is nearly over.

But this does highlight the fact that LG totally messed up their attempts to fix the issue for the early 1st wave of bootloop cases, but its good that they dont try to play the 'warranty expired' card when confronted with this.

Check the serial number for your phone. The first three digits will give you a clue as to what year and month the motherboard was made. The first digit is the manufactured year and the second and third digits is the manufactured month.

Actually their response to this is pretty shite. They released a vague statement acknowledging the fault then try and down play it only servicing phones after it has died. They should have issued a recall but these guys rather skimp on that money and have people sour on the brand.

If they refused to repair it even out of warranty they might have been facing a lawsuit. So all in all, they're only doing the bare minimum of what is required to get out of trouble.

Yes, I did tell the service counter staff if they know the problem why never do a recall!

I damn pissed when I saw their motto this morning as it couldn't come at the worst time when I was about to travel to Msia tomorrow. What's so good abt life with LG?

So "Life's Good" now becomes "Lousy Goods"? :s13:

Wow, my mum's S4 still running well since May 2013. Regretted the Lollipop upgrade though :s8:

They replacing my 505 for free even though my set was out of waranty.
But i agree, this issue should be more than enough to issue a recall.

Unconventionally, the de facto best bang for buck smart phone right now is the Redmi Note 3! - camera wouldn't be as good, but its other areas are within mid-high range specifications! ;)

Otherwise, I would give the top 3 chinese manufacturers - Oppo, Huawei, or One plus 3 a shot!
