I

I think the all the phones are almost the same. I guess the only big difference is the camera. This wide angle camera is indeed useful and good.

Read that there's a gap at the removable battery area, is the gap very obvious?

Almost all use SD 820 (or was it 802) processor nowadays. No Difference to me either,

Is G5 worth getting?

Can't decide on a new phone :(

all along i was using G3, though the screen flickers and changed 2 batteries (bloated issues), and recently when i decided to recontract my handset and change my mobile plan, i actually thought of dropping LG as my main choice and almost bought Sony Xperia X or Z5 premium, but at the very last minute, i went ahead for G5 instead, never regret my purchase... i'm so drawn to the LG UI and user experience, i never like samsung since Note 2...

G5 has its known issues, but the plus point is always there, just that reviews tends to be biased and critical about certain issues.

pros:
  • higher pixel density compared to LG G3, G4, Sony and even Samsung S7 edge
  • fast charging
  • fonts and themes downloadable from LG Smartworld (this one really interesting, i know people are using launcher to create a better visual apperance of the homescreen, but hey the choices of fonts are really good)
  • removable battery can be changed if there's issues
  • fingerprint sensor at the back (power button) and it's so discreet that nobody knows whether you are unlocking the phone when you hold it, chances of spoiling the power button is lesser compared to G3 and G4 (my G3 power button is abit insensitive due to wear and tear, but knockcode is an alternative as well)
  • Snapdragon 820 processor + 4gb ram is really fast

I'm sure there are a lot more good stuffs about this G5, despite having flaws at the same time... so i'm not gonna list the cons here :)

Do check out telco promotions especially during this week of national day promo, starhub is giving away the additional battery pack (original G5 battery which also can use it as a powerbank to charge other devices by using the kit), and cam plus module.

For mine the gap is ok. If you put in a case. It really doesn't make a big difference. Because you can't see it. Most of the time the eyes are fixed on the screen anyway.

the gap would be in the rear and front so the front would still be exposed

and its not just about aesthetics but the gap is a vulnerability to let in dirt and lint or worse, even water

That's true. I guess the build quality has improved a lot. For mine, there is no gap issue. Not too sure about others though.

Really tempted to get the G5 now with all the freebies plus the $300 cheaper than Note 7.

Used my G3 for 20 over months now.

Had the boot loop issue recently but settled with a new battery.

Thanks everyone for your input!

Now just to choose P9 or G5 :s22:

the gap would be in the rear and front so the front would still be exposed

and its not just about aesthetics but the gap is a vulnerability to let in dirt and lint or worse, even water

Yeah that's my concern

Anyone's G5 has a GPS problem? Just realised this when I was playing Pokemon go. My position is always quite far off and I'm always 'teleporting' because the GPS could not position myself correctly. so I thought could be a bug in the game then I tried opening google maps, it's positioning is wrong too. Anyone with same experience?

Btw, since Pokemon Go needs to use phone camera all the time,

Playing it with the camplus module is a good idea then ?

you can disable camera by the AR button. easier to catch too and save battery :)
