The G5 owner in my family is my mother, not myself so I can only comment based on my G4 usage but manual mode is essentially a must have unless you only take photos in outdoor daylight or unless you are ok with noisier photos even at low ISO

Shooting auto in low light is bad on LG, too much chroma noise which is why last time I checked what the stock camera app was doing on the G4 to get better auto quality versus 3rd party apps, and found that it was forcing HDR when the light is too low, even if HDR is disabled.

I have a different experience on G5. When I shoot in auto under low light, the images are less noisy. When I shoot in manual mode with manual setting, the images are very grainy.

What ISO are you using when you shoot manual, and is your HDR on or off during auto shooting? On my G4 the low light auto seems to be mysteriously less noisy than when shooting auto on 3rd party apps, till i found that it was due to HDR.

For what i commented earlier about the G4 'cheating' with HDR when the scene is too dark, its not noticeable until you check the EXIF and notice that there's no data for the shutter speed and ISO. (EDIT: shutter speed wont be present. ISO may be some nonsense value, even zero)

You are right, I enabled HDR. ISO is 0 but other EXIF is present. I guess it's a good problem then, or else noise is too much for me to bear.

I hate HDR, when I enabled HDR, it became very noisy. Now I only use Manual Mode and I get way less noise. I rather spend time on Snapseed than use HDR.

i dont like the LG HDR for low light shots, too much denoise. The G5 is less aggressive than the G4 but if you HDR certain things like foliage or grass at night, its just a murky green mess

if you need less noise, the best option is still lower ISO, slower shutter, and a steady hand (or a tripod)

Is the issue still there? You can try doing a force stop then clear the cache, restart your phone and see if its still there.

I used to have this issue and contemplated to make a trip down to the service centre.

But i decided to "erase" and re-sit the SIM card and since then, i have not experienced any of those issues again.

Sorry i wasn't clear. I mean, use an eraser to rub on the metal part of the SIM card and then insert it back into the hp.

Amusing comment.. I am not trying to burst your bubble, try saying that again when a new flagshit from lg is launched! You will not be happy when the g6 or whatever is out. You wont get any updates like the g4..
