I e-mailed LG a while ago on this as well and recently got a message back from LG that now the App drawer is in the LG apps (like in V20).
I just checked. It works!
Settings > About Phone > Common > Update Centre > App Updates
Then wait a while for the home & app drawer to show up to then download.

If you use Google drive for Whatsapp , how do you link back the existing photos and videos from the old phone to your Whatsapp in your new phone ?

Whatsapp can backup the photos and videos to Google drive as well. However, personally, I don't care about whatsapp photos/videos, since the quality is crap due to compression.

What I would usually suggest is:
1) Whatsapp - Google drive/microsd
2) SMS - cloud/microsd
3) Files - cloud/microsd
4) Apps - best is to redownload - if your Google account is synced with its app data, Google would ask if you would want to restore from your account when you sign in into the new phone. If chosen yes, it will auto-download all apps installed in your old phone (if possible).

I don't use those one-click backup type, never have the need to use one.

LG G6 should come with an app "LG Mobile Switch" that lets you transfer data from old phone to new phone. I didn't try, but it should transfer most of the transferable data, like contacts, files, SMS. Usually, apps are not transferable.

I never use these in-app transfer apps, because I want total control on data transfer and sync, to prevent garbage from loading into my new phone. For apps, many File Explorer apps support APK backup and restore. I used to use ASTRO File Manager, but nowadays I re-download.

For SMS and call logs, I recommend "SMS Backup & Restore". It has an option to transfer over Direct WiFi from one phone to another. Both devices must install the app to work.

For Whatsapp, go to Settings -> Chat -> Chat Backup, and enable Google Drive backup. If you want to include videos for backup, check the box. Then on the new phone, during new Whatsapp sign-in, it will detect backup and ask you to restore.

As I review phones very often, I do that frequently and has become second nature. The critical data that needs local data transfer is call logs, SMS, and my audio files. Everything else is stored on the cloud so I just install the app, login and data is re-sync.

And because I review phones, I like to do the entire process manually to experience and see how good or bad the new phones are.

Looking to transfer all my data (photos, videos, pdf, word) and apps from Samsung Note 3 to LG G6. Which application (pc or smartphone) have you used and works good?

Looking to hear from bro and sis. Thanks.

Think photos, video, and any other documents are easy, you can connect the old phone and transfer these contents to PC, follow by connecting the new phone and transfer from PC to the new phone. The easiest is to store in cloud or get yourself a SD card and store these contents to SD card, just swop the card over to the new phone will do.

For SMS, call log, and especially app data and game progress (refer to non -google play or facebook synced type), I would recommend Helium for non-rooted devices. With the premium version, you can easily backup and restore between devices via cloud (free version can only backup to internal storage).
