By the way to avoid such things its usually a good idea to keep the phone in a place where it doesnt contact with any metal objects like keys, since they may cause scratching like that.

They are the same diagonal. Not the same size.
If u are familiar with math and pythagoras theorem, comparing any 2 rectangles that have the same diagonal, the one whose ratio of width to length is greater, will have the smaller area.
In this case 18:9 is a 2:1 ratio, while 16:9 is a 1.78 to 1 ratio
