Upgraded from G4 to the G6 and I'm loving everything about this phone. Fingerprint sensor, small form factor and awesome camera. Just one question...now that it uses a different kind of USB cable, any idea where I can buy a spare one that's just as good, if not better, than the stock cable?

Im using xiaomi's cable. so far so good

Personally, coming from N6P, I find G6 FP is kinda sucky, lots of misread, especially if finger is not 100% dry.
I thought it was rather accurate, but due to the much smaller area, not as good as 6P.

Also, having it serve as a power button is rather counterproductive.

Not sure on the cause, but not that accurate based on my experience so far. I seldom got misread with N6P, but I experience many misreads in a day since my fingers are usually quite oily/sweaty. Got to keep wiping my fingers/the FP dry/clean everytime.

Yup, not liking the FP power button combo either, but can't do anything, just got to live with it.

got the LG G6 for my mum yesterday, somehow the display size feel smaller than my V20, even tho they are same size.

With the new aspect ratio, we need to look at the screen area instead of diagonal size. For G6, the screen area will be the same as a 16:9 phone with screen size of 5.51in. For S8, the equivalent 16:9 phone is 5.57in. You can calculate the screen area with the aspect ratio and diagonal size using Pythagoras theorem.

That's my gripe before with my G6. That's why I preferred using the flip cover case on that phone since it will automatically locks the phone once closed.

Not the waking part, but the sleeping part, esp if using 3rd party launcher.

Can tap tap status bar to sleep, but it's so small.

With a case, the power button is easier to find, your finger will reach some obstruction. Hence, it is still not an issue to power off. Without a case, it can be an issue as the button is flushed so you need to hunt it down a bit. I find the flip case hard to use when unlocking; flip it half way, fingerprint unlock, then flip it all the way, so troublesome.

Looking for a spare cable too. Bought two, both cannot charge. Data transfer takes ages. Would be great if someone can recommend a good workable cable.

Hehe...I hate flip cases with a vengeance. So hard to use with one hand.

And the flip case actually makes the screen go dark partially like Always on Display, even if you've disabled it - it doesn't actually go to sleep, and if you have an app that keeps the phone awake in upright orientation like me (it's useful for me), good luck to your battery life. Until now I still don't understand why the AOD still automatically activates when you switch it off in settings WHEN you use the flip case.

I'm using the Energea Tyce C cable, $15.90 I bought it from P2O mobile at Burlington Square. Material quite tough, long enough for me as well. :)

I get my cables from taobao only, look for Ugreen 绿联. I also have choetech type c cables, it used to work on my Nexus 5x but it is showing charging slowly for G6.

anybody using 3rd party camera apps and find that autofocus fails to work when shooting in manual mode? Opencamera and Camera FV5 both exhibit this issue

I might be trying to shoot the NDP rehearsal fireworks with the G6 and want to plan what appropriate apps to use (besides stock app)

(The reason I dont use stock app in such scenario is because stock camera app doesnt support headset shutter which is absolutely crucial for me when I cant afford to touch the screen in the midst of shooting repeated long exposures. Tried it before for new year day fireworks and half my shots had to be dumped due to blur)

Enthusiast photographer here too. Have you tried using Bluetooth shutter remote instead?

Just tried it using FV5, auto focus looks fine to me, was just very slow and inconsistent, this may be the reason for the out of focus.
