Yes. It increased to $40.++ from $36.90 and I'm stuck with the 2 years old aging router once my contractual period was over back in June 2023.

So, it is really worth to recontract. You get a new Wi-Fi6 router with so much improvement in term of speed, coverage and stability, and $80 voucher and cheaper $36.90 monthly fee.

that's a good deal, looks like they made the recontract more attractive - before that, there was a disincentive to recontract, so people would leave.....

before covid, there was no router for recontract of 1Gbps plan - they just gave a 2 year warranty on existing, previously issued router. if the router died, either they repaired it, or swapped it (if you didn't return the old router, you were charged for a new router). also, if one upgraded from 500Mbps to 1Gbps plan, a contract would apply, but no router isnce it was considered a "recontract"

So, i left it on 500Mbps till today.

Yeah! I need a 1Gbps plan as there are about 18 devices fighting for bandwidth at peak hours.

At $36.++ with a free new router for recontract. It is a no Brainer! Afterall, M1 BB perfomance has been super good and solid!

I chose the TP-Link router and never regretted. It is fast and the TP-LINK router home web and app are both super useful and fast as well.

Also, I use a few TP-LINK smart plugs for my Google Home Assistant.

IMHO, Asus router (which I used it during the previous M1 BB contract) web and app are too heavy and slow!

As an ex-TP Link and current Asus router users, Asus offering at the low end is always bad. For those on budget TP Link performs better for the money.

But at mid and high end Asus is the better performing one.

Also one suggestion for you is put your AX55 into Media Bridge mode. This will turn it into a giant WiFi adapter + switch for all the devices connected to it's LAN ports, and should provide better WiFi performance over the WiFi adapter too.

[Wireless Router] How to set up media bridge mode on ASUS Wireless Router?

Oh well! Unfortunately, my 7 years old Asus pc has a 100mbps only ethernet port. 🤭 :D

So, the best way is to stick to my wireless adapter which has a max of 866mbps as an AC1300 model.

My Asus pc is located inside my bedroom and most of time my room door is closed. My Asus pc is capable of running at 480mbps to 550mbps with the help of the wireless adapter via my USB 3.1 port at least. :)

Without the help of the wireless adapter. The Asus onboard PCI E wireless port can't even get connected to 5Ghz even with my bedroom door wide opened! 🤦‍♂️ 🤭

just recon 1gb with m1 and got these speeds. run speedtest on my iphone 14 in front of the router ax5400 at 7pm earlier. would this be rightful speed to get from this plan's speed?

2.4Ghz or 5Ghz speed test?

Surely cannot be that low speed! May be your BB has not been optimized by the M1 backend infra yet which usually happens over the night.

Personally, I stick to 5Ghz on my Samsung phone. I don't use 2.4Ghz.

My Samsung Wifi6 capable phone can achieve up to 400-500mpbs on 5Ghz next to the router with the phone WiFi connection statistic shows a whopping 1.2Gbps connection on 5Ghz.

I suggest you safari to the official M1 BB speed test by M1 itself and do the test on your iPhone. Don't use any 3rd party app or website to run the speed test. The same on your Macbook or PC.

Tried the below, but no luck

set interfaces ethernet eth0 dhcpv6-pd pd 0 interface switch0 host-address ::1
set interfaces ethernet eth0 dhcpv6-pd pd 0 interface switch0 service slaac
set interfaces ethernet eth0 dhcpv6-pd pd 0 prefix-length /64

set interfaces ethernet eth0 dhcpv6-pd pd 0 interface switch0 prefix-id :0

it's been like that in the past. the renewal window opens a few months before end of contract. a renewal charge applies if you renew before, as you experienced.
How much would be the early renewal charge? I thought they offer to subscribers as an incentive.

My situation is that I had renewed exactly on one day after four months before the expiry date. The "excess" charge is the same as the termination charge. It looks like they made a mistake of terminating my old plan. I am still following up with them.

I'm sorry but your speedtests just tells us that your wifi router speeds suck. Your 1gbps plan is completely wasted if that's all the speed your wifi can get, might as well downgrade plan.

This is my speedtest on M1's 500mbps plan on PC and phone (both on wifi):

sorry, i can't remember the figure i was quoted a few years ago. Just that it was enough to deter me from early recontract - the penalty was more than the savings from the promo rate - somehow my recontract window is always out of synch with their promos. Anyway, moved to 500Mbps and no more promo recontract anxiety.

their policies keep changing..... on a positive side, responding to the market (hopefully they now value existing subscribers)
