Go download this app called BetterDisplay and it will fixthe MacOS UI scaling issues. With that app, there's no compelling reason to buy 5K 27 inch over 4K 27 inch already --- you can get any display size + resolution combo.
Wow the first review I see on there says “Perfect for scaling a 4k monitor image to a good usable size without loss in quality.” This is gold! Thanks for the tip! (y)(y)

Yes the dreaded bad zone! Theoretically unless we’re on 24” for 4k, 27” for 5k, or 32” for 6k (monitors sold by Apple) we’re still screwed by the bad zone for retina. Do check out real world reviews of monitors paired with the Mac mini for your usage to see which works better. Hope the non-retina resolution works better than your previous experience!
Gosh, such headache over a monitor. Lol. Quite risky too since there’s no exchange. Tempted to just get apple display except it’s ridiculous ex!

Yeah i saw but does it really solve the issue? Quite expensive to buy a monitor, try it & find the issue not resolved.

It works really well.

I tested with 16-inch 1440P monitor and 17.3-inch 4K monitor and was able to get the UI to scale to whichever size I want with perfect sharpness.

This is one thing I don't understand. Why doesn't Apple provide this sort of UI scaling within MacOS. Apple only supports UI scaling for their own laptops and own displays.

I’m guessing they really want us to purchase the displays they’re selling lol.

My credit card has been charged on 28th and the status of order is “shipping to store”, as I had chosen that option instead of delivery to home. However, date range is unchanged as 01/03/2023-08/03/2023. Hopefully I would be able to collect mine tomorrow or on Saturday.

Mine that arrives 28/02/2023 - 02/03/2023 updated with the status: Preparing to Ship too

Although it was set for 2 March, but status is now: Arrives 03 March 2023

Well, at least getting it before the weekend starts.

Just checked mine and it says “Your order is being prepared for shipment”.
Still says Mar 3-6 though. Hopefully this weekend.
