Want to ask a question here.

If I have a mid-2009 macbook pro and I wanna upgrade to SSD, but I lost my snow leopard 10.6 DVD rom. So when I change to a new SSD, I must buy the dvd from apple.com.sg in order to fresh install the OS right?

Just make sure you are on SSD when upgrading to Yosemite. Mavericks onwards are optimized to run on SSDs, and exhibit slowdowns if run on HDDs.

:s11:
perhaps no wonder I recently kinda weird like a bit lag while moving my cursor using my tracker..?

but next upgrade is when ?
in fact i don't know is it due make use SSD as I check many users also complain slow down

OS X El Capitan?

It's coming in September but there's going to be a public beta this month.

It's main focus is performance so it's going to be a lot better than Yosemite ;)

Can someone please please help? This is killing me when I have to submit my work. Currently in yosemite.

How do I manually arrange the files in finder? Everytime I move the file to a lower position, it automatically move back! I already set arrange by None.

Hi guys,

Ive been using windows all my life and am thinking of switching to a Mac. Would it be really hard to get used to? Also, will the MS office for windows be the same as Mac?

Hi guys,

Ive been using windows all my life and am thinking of switching to a Mac. Would it be really hard to get used to? Also, will the MS office for windows be the same as Mac?

I am currently using both windows desktop and rMBP. When I first got my rMBP, it took me 2-3 days to really get used to the interface, but once you are used to it, you will get to appreciate it. I especially enjoy the mission control gestures and using the trackpad on OS X. Just to point out, I enjoy using both windows (especially windows 10) and OS X, with each OS having their own pros and cons.

Regarding the MS office suite, coming from Office 2013 on windows, I felt that MS Office 2011 for OS X is bad and unintuitive. However, the formatting should not have any problems with the MS office on windows side. Do not fret for MS office suite on mac, as the MS Office 2016 for OS X would be coming out soon (I have been using the office 2016 mac preview and it's way better than the 2011 version) and it should be somewhat close to what office 2016 for windows would offer.

How to do this excel thingy on a mac

From Windows, I usually press alt-return to make it a two liner text in a single cell. How do I do that on a mac ? I tried pressing Option-return but doesn't work. Can someone tells me how ?

Thanks.

Anyone has recommendations for protection of the mac? Like do you guys prefer using hard cases, or just using a sleeve to contain the mac?
What are the pros and cons of each and which do you personally feel is better?

Sent from phone using GAGT

Fyi, I'm using speck brand, green color, hard case, $74. Looks nice and feels great. No regret.

Anti-Virus software

Hi All,

I have a question:

Is it really good to have Norton Anti-Virus installed on a mac ? Or is mac really so good that it's not necessary to install Norton or any other anti-virus software ?

Thanks.

If under warranty, definitely so. I suppose you're asking because it's out of warranty? Think in Singapore it's not likely that they'll do it free.
