over the past few months, my macbook (aluminum, non-pro) has a problem that begins to show more n more prominently.

at 1st, i just found the trackpad unresponsive, but since i use a mouse most of the time i did not bother with the problem. but recently i found my macbook unstable, in that it can "tilt". that's when i realized the battery of the macbook is bloated and the battery cover is now pushed open slightly by the bloated battery. i am unable to open the now-deformed battery cover at all now.

this caused the trackpad to be unresponsive too from what i read on the apple forums. my battery also cannot hold its charge anymore (battery % drops fast when unplugged and macbook shuts down within 5min).

i bought applecare extended warranty.

my questions are:

1) does the applecare cover this particular problem? (i expect to have the battery, and the now deformed battery cover replaced)

2) can i call/go to ANY of the service centres listed here (http://appleclinic.wordpress.com/2008/04/04/where-can-i-find-apple-service-centres/) to get it fixed?

3) anyone else experienced the same problem?

the charger light used to turn green when battery is full, but now it is always orange. i don't think the problem occurred because i plug in the charger 24/7 right?

i have a powered usb hub that i plug in 24/7 too, and i suspect that is the culprit instead.

2. We will recommend you to head down to Sunshine Plaza E-Serv.

3. The battery is bloated, if I were you I'll remove the battery (and place it far away from me until the day I bring it to the service center) from my macbook and stop charging the battery. It's always orange because the battery is bloated. And no, I always leave my macbook docked with a powered usb hub that I plug 24/7. I don't face this problem.

i am afraid the battery would explode or something too, but i am unable to remove the battery because the now-deformed battery cover prevents me from doing so. i think the bloated battery pushed the aluminum mechanism out of shape so much that i am unable to remove the cover at all.

is it recommended to fully charge to 100% then use till say 5% then charge back to 100%? so am i right to say my cycle is 95%? so the next charge 5% will complete my 1 cycle?

also, after charging to 100% can i leave my ac on while working on my macbook? will this harm my batt life?

Why would you want to do that?

If you discharge to 95% and charge 5%, that's 5%, not one full cycle. If you decide to discharge to 5% and charge another 95%, that's 1 cycle (5% + 95%). It's listed on Apple's website.

Ive finally installed my windows on my mac, and when i log into windows:
1. how do i do a right click using my track pad?
2. How do i connect to my wireless ?
3. How do i change the partition as and when i want to? Any impacts if i changed the partitions due to the need i foresee?

You have to ensure you've installed the apple hardware drivers first before you could use ur trackpad. To right click, place your finger on the lower right portion and push it like a button.

How to connect to wireless depends on your windows version. Lets assume you're using windows 7, your com should be able to scan for wireless network by default, and this icon will appear next to your clock at the bottom of your screen. Click it, search for your network and connect.

You cannot resize your partition as and when you like it. If you really need to resize, there are 3rd parties software which helps backup an image of windows for you on an external HDD and restore it once u reinstall windows.

So in conclusion, you will need a hell lot more of effort to resize it.

Next problem is when i tried to update using the mac os, i keep getting a blue screen that says there is an error and system will now shut down. Any idea why like that?

I've not been using windows xp for some time, therefore i'm not familiar in the proper config.

You may try accessing control panel. There should be a wireless network icon for you to select...

the only way so far is email, but i don't think i wanna email myself 2400+ times

So can you still access your old HDD?
Get a HDD enclosure and place the old HDD inside.
Extract the iPhoto library.
