zzz annoying issue with the app store. I can't update iMovie, it downloads it but just can't install it... annoying
Create a new user account with Admin privileges.
Skip the iCloud set up page.
Once it lands on the desktop head to Mac App Store and complete the update.

depends on where u replace the screen. if you replaced it at the authorised service centre, your wallet will bleed. if you replaced at sim lim tower, your heart will bleed, not knowing when the screen will break down again.

HDD to SSD involves alot of money, and you need to choose carefully the compatible SSD. The best is to wait for users here with identical machine to give you advice, or you may want to visit computer shop? :)

New MacBook Pro 13" retina is cheaper than your MBP13" you bought new in 2008. Plus you get the retina screen with an advance i5 processor with iris graphics(intel HD 5100) and SSD too.

Hi bro thanks for ans-ing my qn. really appreciate your help!

The official answer is approach the Apple Store fellas and have them help you on this. This article will answer some of your questions How to install Mavericks over Leopard | Macworld

The answer is most likely NO, unless the PCI-E board of the SSD storage is removable. Wouldn't know until someone start dissembling the latest MBP series. You are encouraged to get the SSD size as you anticipated to be adequate for your daily needs. If you need more, offload to an external USB3.0 drive or a NAS

8MB or 16MB will not serve your needs. 8GB or 16GB will be more reasonable :)
Basically 8GB can carry you far. 16GB is a tad too much for most consumer, however, if you can afford it, why not. I'm using a 17" 2009 MBP series and is on 8GB and have been doing numerous photo editing tasks on both CS5 and Lightroom 5. Memory is often not the reason why you get slow down at 4GB and above. It's often your disk and your computing power if you feel slow in some filter stuffs.

For video editing, memory will be your biggest issue, computing power is. If you can afford a Mac Pro, go ahead. If not, live with lower expectation and don't edit a 4K video.

Certainly for the kind of tasks you have in place, Retina display will give you more screen assets for editing. Between 2.8 and 2.9Ghz, doesn't make much of a difference. Turbo boost will most likely not kick in if you are already using multicores intensively by your application.

Quad-core will be faster if your application uses all the cores, which you will most likely be using for video and photo editing.

did u specify e filesystem explicitly by using -t ?

Sorry for late reply, managed to boot into Lion, quickly did the upgrade to Mavericks. So far, the problem no longer occur. Not sure if it is driver issue.

Thanks, szeli ...

The Mac App Store is getting hammered from the past few days :s22:
iOS 7.0.3
Then we've got Mavericks as well as the few apps that went free.

Just started using Pages.

When i save the file, i also export it into MS Word's .docx file.

However when i open in MS Word, the page formatting seems a bit off. Like my paragraph and page indentation is off.

Anyone knows how to overcome that?

Think can't be helped, hard to get 100% compatibility. Either use very basic formatting that you know is recognised by both apps, or export your documents in pdf format.

suggest you to use MS words/ xls. cos u r sharing files w other ppl.
But if you were to do presentation on your lappy, then ppt is still ok.

at first i try to use Mac app cos i want to get myself familiar w it but then too many things diff in term of format n alignment. and i can do faster in win. so i give up.

Help!
My 13" MBA 2011 got a vertical line of bright pixel from top to bottom near the right side of the screen.
Its still under warranty.
Where should I send to for repair?
Do I need to pay?
Also how long will it take?

Thank you.
