You can turn the battery percentage back on in System Preferences > Dock & Menu Bar

Safari feels snappier after the upgrade  But seriously, I feel a slight improvement in performance. my 13"mbp2015 has been stuttering a lot

Is Big Sur more optimised for Apple silicon?

What advantages does intel mac has over Big Sur compared to Catalina? I have a mac book pro and imac 27 at home but still debating if it is better not to upgrade.
Pretty sure it will be since AS is going to be their flagship going forward

Have a 2014 MacBook Air that I did the update. Was working fine for most parts but wanted a fresh install so went ahead to doing it this weekend. Glad I did because the machine does feel smoother. All that junk accumulated over the years is gone and gives me a chance to start from fresh with all the apps, so I only download/install what I need.

Only Big Sur can work with Apple Silicon.

Not only the OS is updated, the firmware is also updated. I used to have display via hdmi problem with Catalina. During bootup, there will be no display. I have to force shutdown and reboot again. With Big Sur, this problem is almost gone. BT signal has also improved. Unlock with Apple Watch works every time now. Very happy with Big Sur.

My battery life shortened to less than 2hrs after upgrade. Called Apple they said nothing to do with Big Sur just happened to need to change battery. Not really convinced, how can be so coincidental?

Download coconutBattery, take a screenshot and post the image here for us to judge if your battery is kaput?

Reset SMC, do battery calibration?

I think big sur introduced optimised charging. It auto calculates the maximum capacity based on your charge cycles to prolong battery longevity..

Can expert here can advise what to do besides replacing battery?
