Guys are yall going for Option 1 or Option 2?
I think it is a very simple matrix.

If you believe in the long term prospect of MPACT, then take all in MCT units.

If you believe in the long term prospect of MPACT, but would like to take some money off the table, and/or reduce exposure to the sector, then opt for cash + MCT units.

If you do not believe in the long term prospect of MPACT and/or have lost faith in Mapletree, then cash out MNACT from the market.

(Disclaimer: not vested in MNACT)

My matrix is even simpler. Take 16% cash as long as MCT price is below $2.

Proposed merger fixed a certain exchange ratio between MCT and MNACT. The ratio was favorable for MNACT, but if MCT goes down both will go down in tandem. After all MNACT prices probably was pushed up only due to possibly leaked news of the merger.

On the other hand, CLI run up 5% today. Maybe funds getting diverted there.

with mapletree comm correcting to fair market value due to integrating of North asia assets (1 x book at NAV), price of north asia trust will correct as well because the conversion from MCT is worth less and NAT shareholders will take chance to get more by selling direct in market till all reach an equilibrium.

MOODY'S Investors Service has placed the Baa1 issuer rating of Mapletree Commercial Trust (MCT) on review for downgrade, ahead of its planned merger with Mapletree North Asia Commercial Trust (MNACT) in a S$4.2 billion deal.

Concurrently, Moody's is reviewing MNACT's Baa3 rating for an upgrade, the credit rating agency announced on Wednesday (Jan 5) after trading hours.

but i speculated many of you should be welcoming the merge

#BTOpinion: Mapletree merger not win-win for MCT unitholders

While MCT has demonstrated steady growth over the years, MNACT's performance has been choppy. I used to regard Mapletree Investments as one of the better Reit sponsors in terms of how it treats minority shareholders. I no longer hold this view.

SINGAPORE (REUTERS) - Activist investor Quarz Capital Management said it is opposed to the terms of a proposed $4.2 billion merger of two Temasek-linked Singapore real estate investment trusts (Reits), saying the target firm was significantly undervalued.

It is urging Mapletree North Asia Commercial Trust (MNACT) to negotiate an improved offer from Mapletree Commercial Trust (MCT), according to a Feb 9 open letter reviewed by Reuters.

...

"MNACT's board and management should initiate a transparent and robust process to sell the assets above NAV of $1.23 instead of recommending the suboptimal offer of $1.08 to S$1.10 from MCT," Quarz said.

These quoted numbers don't seem right?

Quarz is basing their calculations on the MCT's price of $1.80 earlier this week.

Anyway, Quarz needs to wake up its idea, cos the deal is more likely to be scuppered by MCT's unitholders than MNACT's. The former seems more happy if the merger doesn't proceed.

Yeah thats what I thought too

The deal is slightly more favorable to MNACT holders. But considering MCT price dropped 8%, it seems like Quarz is trying to get a even better deal

Their pattern, if didn't get what they ask for, they will vote against it. But this merger is under same sponsor, so unlike any changes.

Why is this seeing abnormally high volume again these few days?

Disclosure: I already sold all cos I think the merger will fail, plus the COVID situation in HK.

High volume but the price is holding up though.

Very suspicious. Maybe some inside information has leaked again. MCT also has abnormally high volumes today.
