Really sick of this Asus AC68U. After all the reset, update and reconnection, it still cannot connect into 5Ghz band. I have changed back to my original so called "less superior" Dlink 865L and all back to normal. Can go into 5gHZ and 2.4Ghz without any issue. I do not think is my Asus Z87 Deluxe motherboard issue. Probably it is Asus AC68U and Asus Z87Deluxe hand shake issues.

I'll be writing in from the office. I'm pretty much wanting to change to AC68u but would also like for starhub resolve the issue. Grrrrr

Maylyn/asus/Cher,

I've ran out of patience and think neither starhub or asus can resolve the problem so guess what, in anger purchased a ac68u.

I'm going to use this as my main router then link the ac66u as a media bridge to my ssynology nas. At least I don't feel so bad for making the darn 66u a retard and rather putting it to good use.

May I ask what's the latest firmware for this router and if the beta is any good ? Or should I go merlin ?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the introduction of the newer _5XX firmware, there are significant changes to the way Broadcom CTF aka hardware acceleration works, there are 2 levels now and ASUS have renamed it to NAT acceleration.

As for what are the differences between level 1 and 2, I will post more when i have the details.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Test Results as shows :D

Wired

Nothing new, the ASUS RT-AC68U is not even wavering a bit ;)

2.4GHz

Very acceptable results on 2.4GHz 40MHz (channel bonding) on 600Mbps Broadcom Turbo QAM, if one is looking carefully, the ping is slightly erratic due to our ever congested 2.4GHz environment.

5GHz

Near perfect > 300Mbps Speedtest on 5GHz 80MHz (AC) on 1300Mbps with latency under 10ms continuously under heavy loads, I'm impressed ;) Beat that ^^ A lot of hard work is done behind the scenes. If again one is looking on my screenshots more carefully? is something up? ;)

Hi AnTiLooP

You can do ahead and try out the ASUS beta 3.0.0.4.374_501 firmware or Merlin's 3.0.0.4.374.35.4 firmware and see what is working well for your setup.

Do note the ASUS _501 is based on the newer Broadcom SDK as compare to Merlin's latest which is based on one version older.

Thanks. I'll just use this then. Cheers

I have PM you. Do update your usage accordingly ;)

ASUS TW will eventually implement 2 levels of CTF settings for their Broadcom based routers i think but there is no time line for this i'm afraid.

The Broadcom SDK in used for ASUS RT-AC68/AC-56 are different for ASUS RT-N66/AC66U (ARM Cortex A9 CPU vs MIPS CPU) + ASUS current priorities are to bugfix, performance tuning/enchancements for ASUS RT-AC68U and ASUS RT-AC56U.

Care to enlighten what's the difference between l1 and l2 Nat acc levels?
