Was told that even the Mac will stop charging by itself, but overtime, that feature will be degraded hence this issue.

Yes. It happened to mine. Just changed battery last year. One year time after that now the battery is already bloated.

My mid 2012 MBP till today still working fine and in tip top condition. However just recently the battery icon prompts me “Service battery”

Check with coconut battery and seems like it starts to lose its charge holding power.

Going to hoot a battery from iFixit and diy replace.

Hi,

I noticed that my macBook Air cannot be closed properly when i close the monitor and the keyboard looks a little dented. Suspect that it may be battery bloated due to extensive usage for the last 2 years WFH. Mine is Macbook Air 13" 2018 version. I have scheduled for an appointment this Friday morning at Apple store Orchard for checks. If it is assessed to be bloated battery problem and need to replace, any idea the time taken before the macbook can be returned to me? Any possibility that I can get my macbook back on next Monday evening? Thanks!

I wouldn’t bet on it. May take about a week

Thanks. My slot is at 11am. It happened to me a few years back when I bought it to ALab at PS. It took them around 2 days to replace and return to me on the 3rd day. I am okay if they need 2 days to service it as I need the laptop on Tuesday.

i believe if you go Apple, if there is a need to replace battery and is covered by the warranty, they will just change all the parts to get it done

Can confirm it's a whole bottom case replacement.

Just had mine changed a couple of weeks back.
So bottom case + touchpad + keyboard + touch bar + battery replaced. And a very expensive repair bill.

With GST, about $640. It's not really worth it. For perspective, it's 1/2 the price of a M1 MacBook Air.

yeah not worth it sia. Might as well sell as it is for parts. At least got a few hundred bucks then use the money to subsidise new Macbook Air M1. you get newer next gen level processor.
