microsoft app store application sucks, can i download apple application to SP 3?

you can try Free iPadian - The #1 iPad Air Simulator for pc

but that is just a simulator...

There was suppose to be one... iemu but I guess big bad ass apple loves shooting court orders that the developer throw the white flag.

iEmu is an emulator based on the popular open-source emulator QEMU. The project's primary goal is to implement support for the S5L8930 chipset, which is used in the iPhone 4 and the first-generation iPad. Since the specifications for this chipset and other supporting hardware used by Apple's devices aren’t public, supporting these devices takes some heavy reverse engineering. This takes time and dedication, which is why progress so far has been slow. My new approach is to dedicate myself completely to this project and show the world the full potential of iEmu.

Once iEmu is complete it will be possible to run it on Linux, Windows, Mac, mobile platforms such as Android, and even on iOS itself. It will act as a debugger for some, and perhaps will be a QA tool for others. It will also enable security experts to capture and analyze iOS malware in a sandboxed environment.

Another major factor will be the documentation produced along the way. I plan on not only documenting my findings but also posting regular blog updates with thoughts and insights on my work.

The end goal is a program that:

is simple to use, with no tricky state dumps required
is capable of running most iPad/iPhone apps
can be extended with plugins for custom iOS exploration
has basic support for non-essential peripherals like accelerometer, GPS etc.
can be reflashed using iTunes via USB emulation.
has Slirp-style network access

Oh, the Maroo case.. Its nice and solid.. I really like the bumper, the case does have a little weight to it...

I had it with my SP1. works better with the type cover as they had left space for it, so using without a cover makes the front case cover a little loose but still ok.

Oh yes, do get some skin for your SP3 back, as the bumper crossbar(the case back does cause some micro-scratches on to your surface pro back. It cause an cross marking on my SP1 back..

It is very easy to remove the device from the case, just push the top 2 bumper aside and the device slides out.. so you can make use of the SP3 kickstand, the default case kickstand is a little limited..

Hope you enjoy using it.. I am thinking about it.. but its all sold out now..

Update :

Sorry, didn't notice you bought a sleeve instead... Anyway, for those thinking of buying the case, skin ur surface.

Haha thanks for your review though. That's what I thought, I won't be able to utilise the kickstand and having to always remove it will cause scratches through friction somehow... So I went for the sleeve.

you need to disable connected standby (InstantGo)

But you will turn your tablet instant on and off to become like the old SP1/normal laptop sleep and hibernation. Can not play your music while you off it, etc

For those who wants to disable connected standby (InstantGo)

Just run Regedit

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\CsEnabled

Change it from 1 to 0

I disabled mine... :)

I guess batt life will be better?

Yes, it should as now when u put it to hibernate, it totally won't draw any power.(In CS mode the device is still running background, using very minimum power, but still using) Plus you now have the option of controlling the maximum processor % . Using the same way of how we once try to limit the heat and extend the battery life of sp1 from just 3.5hrs to 5.5hrs.. setting it to about 50%. Great if u don't need the speed n just want extended power life.. i haven't tested myself fully as using it 9-10hrs a go is a little long(the estimate sometimes shows 12hrs, not sure if its true).. will try to find time to test it out.

Sp1 i really did get about 5hrs plus usage...

anyone tried to use Netflix on Surface? I am currently using MyRepublic's Teleport service and it streams perfectly on my iPhone and PS4.

But I am unable to get it working on the Netflix App (from MS Store). Strangely, the Netflix website works. It's only the App that doesnt work.

Anyone know of any workaround to get the app to work?

The case does have its advantages, the SP3 can always be safe in it, can be sitting on a bus/mrt and just pull it out from the bag, open it like a book and start reading, reached destination, just flip the cover back, hold it in one's hand and go. If you have an idea, a quick press on the top of your pen(in your shirt pocket), flip open the cover and start writing.

The sleeve on the other hand, have to take out the SP3, put the sleeve aside and then start reading it naked, reached destination, find sleeve and put it in and go, but you won't want to use it for a quick check(5-10sec type) as its too much trouble to remove the sleeve and doing a balance between the sleeve and the naked SP3.

Conclusion
Sleeve is great if you use SP3 more in Laptop mode

Case is great if you use SP3 more in Tablet mode.

The Maroo case is great for both as the bumper protects while having quick access in tablet mode, and the bumper allows for quick removal of the sp3(in just 1 sec) to use in laptop mode enabling to make full use of the kickstand.

Don't forget, the case does holds heat(may gets hot at the back if you have a i5/7) so use minimum power mode in tablet mode, In laptop mode out of the case, you can let it go , let it go..... the heat doesn't bother me anyway....

Quite interested in the Maroo case but a bit worried on heat dissipation, especially at the back (right side) where it often gets hot if the CPU load is high. Using Chrome does not help either.

Btw, fyi damn hard to find precut screen protector it seems. The tempered glass one at bencoolen the last time i asked they sold out, either this week or next week new stock.

Ended up getting 'customized' one done at sls. $12 - $15 for clear n matte available, they will cut it according to ur screen, but cant cut the speaker ports, so there's a bit of a bleed. Just fyi for those looking.

Will prolly order tempered glass from overseas. Looking at Mime Ghost glass. :)

sianz, my SP3 just got delivered to me, and I failed to power-on it. Tried all force-shutdown commands (Power button + Volume Button) but still failed to switch it on. Does anyone have the same issue?

Plug on the power. Mine won't power on at first but when plugged, it turned on with battery life less than 50%
