Its the same concept as Youtube. If the movie speed < streaming speed, you experience buffering AKA jerky playback. In youtube, the pink red bar is the buffered memory. The timing MUST be before this pink red bar to get smooth speed.
Once the entire movie have been buffered (full pink red bar = fully downloaded into temp files), it'll be like watching the movie off your harddisk instead through online. Hence the smooth playback.
Higher resolution or higher size movies requires a higher bandwidth speed to buffer.
eg. 10GB movie requires faster buffering speed then a 500mb movie.
Remedy : Once the movie starts to load, press PAUSE, and let it buffer. Some players/machines will buffer the entire 10GB if enuff space, some will only buffer up to its max capacity.
Or
Port Forwarding. Super troublesome, but efficient especially for Singtel users and some players.
