lol i dun see how the proximity of the locations to the m1 hq and m1 shop has any relation with the network.

Don't you know that Telco install 'small' base station at Shopping Mall, Library and Offices (esp. when they have a presence) to boost their mobile signals?
Take a look at the ceiling and you may be able to spot it if if not well-concealed.

Acceptable is...? What're the speeds you get during peak and non-peak hours?

I think that's why M1 recaptured a large part of the market again. They really offer the best value for money at the moment. It has its own flaws of course, but nothing that can't be tolerated.

So far, my corp M1BB 1mbps never face d/c or bw issues. Quite stable using Sierra-Wireless 8755 internal HSDPA modem on my lappy.

Currently in Pasir Ris:

M1BB has never disconnected people. Just connection freeze in the past, now it's periodic sluggishness (on certain days). Not sure what the cause is but I really hope the technical team can sort it out.
I wonder whether M1 forces at least one of their tech guys to use their own mobile broadband to be sure there's nothing wrong.

I am very sure they are using their mobile BB. Sometimes nothing much they can do. Is all about improving the network which cost $$.

Even if the service is heywire and they would usually reply you everything is working fine. They can't be telling customer that yah is slow because network is bad @ your area.

True. Honestly, I'd rather they tell us they are working on things than to say everything's fine. There is no SLA or service guarantees. All we want is some reassurance that they'll look into it. Just saying it's all fine gives the impression that they won't do anything about it after the call is hung up.

JuNz-V, that's very slow to be honest. Even 1Mbps users can max out their 1Mbps.
But then again, have you tried at any other time, like wee hours, morning, afternoon etc?
