Commenwealth, Starhub / Singtel broadband

Hi,I stay at commenwealth, do u think i can apply for starhub / singtel broadband?

The only ISP with a testimonial in Commonwealth is M1, and 2Mbps looks ok.
But if you're thinking of landed broadband, sorry you're in the wrong thread.

Starhub MB is so much better in Sengkang. consistent full bar signal and no DCs at all.
Speed wise not so impt, as long as i can get to the Net.

Sengkang near Rumbia area fyi.

But in serangoon, Always 0bar signal.

My review is done with the 12gb smartsurf plan on a huawei e1550 modem.
Never bother do speed test, so i took signal strength as a strong reference.

My input as follows;

YS-ONE, Yishun Area...

M1 - 4Mbps mobile BB Plan

(Slow speed, even if speedtest shows 2-3Mbps)

Starhub - 7.2Mbps mobile BB Plan

(Slow speed even if speedtest shows 3-5Mbps)

Singtel - 7.2Mbps mobile BB Plan

(Acceptable speed when speedtest shows 2-4Mbps)

Of all the telcos, Singtel still OK, but around 4PM, slow like hell til night...

Anyone suggest mobile broadband that has fastest upload speed around Balestier ?
Especially at night ( 7-10 pm)

Last time I used Starhub, very Slow..

My experience with singtel is bad
I live at 16 floor in hougang near hougang mall, where i subscribe to singtel 2 Mbps mobile broadband but actually get 0 Kilobyte per second in another word can't connect, i later complain and return the device and got no penalty

then i switch to starhub 2 Mbps plan and sometimes I can get 200 KB download speed which is nice, then i move to queenstown area and also sometime got 200 KB speed, then my contract ends, and since starhub is promising, I subscribe to 21 Mbps plan and actually got worse.

Why worse? My download speed using torrent is 10 KB only, and after I complain, I manage to force the staff to tell me the secret. Which is 21 Mbps plan, they limit the torrent download speed, while 2Mbps plan does not being limited. However the download speed for HTTP is around 100 KB which is lesser than 2 Mbps plan (200KB).

That's why I recommend not to subscribe 21Mbps plan as you will get worse speed and worse treatment (is limited to use torrent).

Best I've ever gotten from M1BB HSPA+ 21mbps (3 Bars) - Tampines East.

Average DL/UL is much more crappier

Only good thing is the ping, which floats around 50~120.

I think some traffic shaping is happening >.> Since most of the time my upload speed greatly exceed my download... weird

I plan to switch to singtel but don't know whether this area is good and also i hate the singtel 50GB limitation.

lol...the speed is very slow..how u can reach 50 gig per month? unless u don't sleep and work and spend your time 24x7 use non-stop....by then your mobile bb stick will be gonecase liao due to overheat.

The limit is there to prevent overshot only...with current internet speed, it is quite impossible to achieve it.

50G? Ask innocast and he might be able show you

I find something interesting, if I turn off my device for quite sometimes lets say 5 hours, then I start it, I will get high speed! Then when I try to download, it will be tremending fast (around 200 KB since I never exceed this number only once 500KB), but if I open browser and browsing, the speed will go back to around 15KB like usual. So basically my usual speed is around 15KB continuously... anyone has better speed?
