Got new M1 Mobile Broadband (5 GB Data limit) last week. Switced from Starhub -Surflite. M1 in this area (Elias Road) seems better than SH :=)

Using this now in Bukit Panjang. Decent speed during the day, but slows down to negligible speeds at night (speedtest gave 0.1 mbps). Also, I can't seem to be be able to upload anything. Using it at my workplace in conjunction with a cheap 3G router (cuz my iPad/iphone can't get any reception from Singtel while in my office).

Guess you really get what you pay for.

M1 is getting congested. Now i get between 0.02Mbps (20kbps) to 0.06Mbps (60kbps) during peak hours. last time used to be better. considering whether to terminate or not.

I think why our local Telco network for data is always so congested with users, they knew about such situation and yet they don't want to do something about it. Not that I wish to compare but data network in bigger countries like Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia are more stable and fast. In these countries that I have been, Australia and Hong Kong data speed in peak hours can even reach 8mb/s and for non peak is about 10-12mb/s

For Australia, I am referring to the Optus Singtel Telco company. Singtel network in Optus is so much better than their home town own infrastructure.

West Side areas like Jurong West Central 1, Jurong West near to CHC, Jurong West Street 91, for Starhub is really terrible and slow. The feedback to the Starhub Technical department have proven futile as nothing is being done so far to enhance the congested network here.

how u get 7.2 Mbps free? I tot they only give 2 Mbps free.

I tested using the new Ipad on speedtest app.

I can get about 14mbps (iirc) download.

But it was done around 2am .

Goodness I am at Bukit Merah... It simple detect GPRS only. Had to force WCDMA... and I am only getting 1 mbps from speedtest.net

Really a bad decision to go with this for 2 years!!!

your speed within the "typical download speed" specified by Singtel.

The only industry where you can advertise a product having a typical performance of 10-20% of its peak capabilities, charge a premium of the theoretical peak, and still be deemed acceptable by the regulators. Probably the only country as well.

Goodness singtel 21mps is really useless!!! Now I'm at geylang area I can't even load hardwarezone forum!!!! It takes forever!!!

They are useless. I wrote to IDA to inform them of the poor 3G network in areas like Suntec/Holland village. Esp in HV, loading google.com can take ages! IDA wrote to Singtel to respond to me and guess what? After 1 month Singtel could only says those areas has peak traffic. so after 6pm, do help to understand that due to peak load and bandwidth sharing, network may be slow. Thank you for understanding.

What type of answer is that? Why is Singtel introducing video streaming at $5 per month for BPL or Olympic video steaming when they are even get the basic 3G service right? Why did I not experience slow 3G service in San Franciso/LA right in the middle of town at peak periods under AT&T? Why did I experience much faster 3G service in HK in tsim sha tsui in their shopping center this year right in the middle of summer with queues everywhere the whole 4 days I was there from Thursday to Sunday?

And we are paying a premium for this lousy service compared to AT&T or even HK 3G.
