6 apparently, based on table 4-2 of the PDF for the 6950. However such a configuration relies on splitting the mini DP signal. Confirmation, if any were needed, that DP / mini-DP is the future, and DVI is going the way of the dodo.

Well ... the VGA input was around for a pretty long time before it switched to DVI. So I guess .... for PC ... moving to Display Port would be a matter of time. Would be good if TV would move to Display Port also.

All display all use same input ... easier for consumers.

The main context I am driving at is just a matter of future proofing. Given a choice, it is better to take a monitor with displayport inputs rather than dvi inputs, if possible (except, as in your case, you are using an output device which only has dvi).

Mobile devices and graphics cards are clearly moving more towards displayport; it is just good planning to get a monitor that supports displayport over DVI (where budget and availability permits, of course). Ultimately your use case will still decide your needs. :) People intending to get a dvi only high resolution monitor like this should be fully aware of what their output devices are capable of before committing to a purchase.

Meh. I read through all 53 pages.

My eye burnnns and headaches. :(

I still cannot get the answer to some questions:

1: magic u said pivot or no pivot. Pivot = no tempered glass.

1a: what's the diff between tempered and not? Someone said not much diff. Hah really? I don't really have experience with the 27" mac screen so I have no idea.

2: what's the point of pivot? Non-pivot cannot use vesa mount? non-pivot cannot do tilt/rotate/height?

I'm actually using a 25" and just looking for a 23" IPS over IT fair to dual screen. Then I saw this and thought this might be a good idea considering the 23" would cost just about 400sgd... shldn't have read this thread..lol

I can only find this on eBay ... from the picture ... it looks similar to the one that this 27" monitor uses.

About SGD$53

NOTE : This connector to power is "mickey head" type.

24V 5A AC power adapter for JVC LT-23X576 LCD TV NEW | eBay

Take note that the mickey head may look alike but the + - points maybe different. The shop i went to have a similar mickey head but the pins are placed differently in regards to the +-. FYI, the mickey head adapter off the shelves are non existence in SLT as it is not common. To play safe, I brought the faulty adapater cut off the mickey head and reattached to the new power brick.

I can only say that the catleap one that I got only supports 2560x1440 and no other resolution.

So what did the seller do eventually? Did they send you a new power adapter?

Please update what they did and who is the seller?

i see.. i guess thats becuz of the cheap stuff they put in there, no scaler :s22:

Exactly. That's why I've been harping that buyers need to know exactly what ports they can drive, because the inputs are very limited (essentially allows for only exactly one mode: 2560*1440 dual link DVI)

Meaning you can't use the monitor at a lower reso even with the dual link DVI?

I just tried my CrossOver 27Q .... I scale down to 1920x1080 ..... CAN! The monitor can scale down. But not nice lah .....

So means for Catleap one .... cannot even scale down at all?

LOL!! Your 560TI sure no problem for normal usage and maybe abit just nice for most of the games.

I am powering 2 x 27" 2560x1440 with my humble GTX460 1GB only. Waiting for July or Aug then buy GTX670.

I stand corrected. It can indeed scale down, but what I do notice is that even though down-scaling is possible, I cannot activate the monitor using a single-link connection. It will only accept a dual-link DVI signal.

Scaling seems to work well for any 16:9 resolution, which includes 1920 x 1080, 1600 x 900 and 1280 x 720.

when you are playing game, you can set the resolution to 1920x1080 in the game setting.
