You can check all your account details on their site. Balance, remaining days, bonus accounts etc.. https://inno.ideas.singtel.com/myhiaccount/welcome.do

All the other telcos charge exorbitant amounts if you don't have a data plan as well, it's the norm here..

I agree, that all other telcos CAN charge exorbitant amounts without data plans.
For instance Indonesia Telkomsel does exactly the same thing as SingTel,they use the same system/soft,(number *363).
But others? - they can steal, but they do not do it.
TuneTalk in Malaysia? - you buy their sim, charge it,put it into your smartphone or modem and they put you in automatic manner on data plan, you can use it for long time.
SmartTone in HongKong?- they charge by time:first hour:1$,2nd hour another $;after 3 hours and 3$(24 HK$) - you can use it all day
so it is:8HK$/hour not more then 24HK$/24hours
It happens in automatic manner, without customer action, but customer is adviced about it on every step.
Another telco in HK have similar system, but with 2 caps - one daily(24HK$) and next level - month(140HK$).
They do not apply that exorbitant rates at all! This possibility is not possible, customer can not chose it - not delibirately, not by mistake.
In SingTel - they wait for customer mistake and they jump on it,like hungry dogs!No wonder! - 5000 visitors every hour makes huge and easy pray.
This is megabucks scam.

I buy 10$ top-up,take 7$/7days plan and SingTel can steal only 3$.

Recently 10$top-up cards are hard to buy, they offer 20$ only....
what do you think?
me think:they prefer to grab 13$ instead of 3$;it takes the same time-blink of your eye.
Thank you for your reply..

this was published on Straits Times' forum today (note: i m not the writer). see what the telco is going to reply. :D

"Necessary to have card expiry date?

RECENTLY, I bought a prepaid M card for my elderly mother to use in case of emergencies.
She hardly makes or receives calls, and the card value of $21 can last her for a very long time.

But the card has an expiry date. I have to top up the card before it expires, so as to generate a new expiry date, otherwise the balance amount will be forfeited.

Why must one have to keep remembering the expiry date? Topping up the card value just adds to the amount that is not utilised. And if I ever forget to top it up, the total sum will be forfeited.

Is it necessary to have an expiry date? Should there not be a card that is cheap and easy for senior citizens to use?

I understand the need for some expiration date. Otherwise Singapore would run out of 8 digit telephone numbers since none could be recycled.

That said, the mobile carriers collect a lot of revenue through their expiration rules, so that's the major reason why they have them. It would be perfectly sufficient for mobile numbers not to expire so long as you make or receive a call (or SMS) every 180 days, for example. But that wouldn't raise enough revenue at current prepaid pricing levels, evidently.

I think the regulators could step in, though, to enforce some basic consumer fairness. One problem is that the terms, conditions, fees, etc. are not clearly disclosed. Another problem is that not all the carriers offer auto-top-up systems. (StarHub appears to do so. I haven't found one for M1.) They should. The letter author is correct: it's difficult for many individuals, including the elderly, to remember that their prepaid balance is about to expire. The third thing the regulators can do is require a minimum expiration period extension (e.g. 90 days) at a particular minimum top-up amount (e.g. $5), perhaps allowing the latter to be adjusted for inflation annually. That'd be a reasonable compromise that balances the needs of consumers and carriers.

I've been using *398# for almost 3 years without problem, but just now all I get is:

Error performing request
Unknown Error

I hope it's not because they cancelled the option?
*398# is working again now. :D

For hi card extend expiry, how far from expiry date can we extend?
can only extend if the expiry date is within 92 (both current date n expiry date included) days frm current date. ;)

captured this morning after extended 90 days for $1.40:

This is like the BEST tip ever for someone like me who are afraid of forgetting to extend and lose the number!

It's only Dec 2013, and my card now expires in Jun 2014! Basically come Mar 7 (the original expiry date) I will go extend the expiry to Sep 2014, and so on.

Thank you so much!

Great!!
Do we have to go to strictly Singtel shops to do the porting such as eg causeway point, AMK HUB, Bugis Junction, ComCentre
