MSI motherboards do take a longer time to post. I am using MSI board too and it post slower than my previous ASUS board. Something is weird for my current MSI board which is the bios flashback button does not work. The light flashes for a few seconds and then ends. I went into the bios and sure enough the bios wasn't updated from the flashback button. Lazy to rma the board just for that as I could update it from the bios. Not sure if it happens in your case too.

my previous b450 mobo was using it for a few years without flashing the bios. post speed was all quite standard for me no issues. only after this problem that i flashed with the flashback button but my flash has all been smooth without issue. the light blinks then speeds up then slows down then when its done it will shut off itself and restart. all in a few minutes. even for this new b550m board i also went to flash it to the latest stable bios after i the post failed and it flashed the same way successfully too.

maybe you wanna check if you using the right usb 2.0 port. cause for my b450 the backplate shows which usb port is for bios flash while the b550m doesnt so need to check the manual for the right port to use.

maybe the thumbdrive then need to find those 32gb below so their default format fat32. kind of unfortunate if its flashback feature faulty. but ya 1 to 2 mins is way too long i havent encountered such on msi board yet and i dont think i can accept that either

If doesn't want to take it all apart, can just bring over the whole case for testing. If feel that it is too heavy, can bring to the nearest PC repair shop. Diagnosis is usually $40.

Think at this point, it may be better to get a diagnosis than splash more money on more parts and end up with the same problem again.

Alternatively, TS can check the CPU for bent or broken pins.

its been in there for years dont think it would suddenly bend or break for nothing though never drop the case or anything either. but ya checked it all looks fine too.

anyway already ordered a 5700x3d from aliexpress fingers crossed that this will fix it. this is like partial replacement of the rig already since its a new mobo and cpu but old gen

its just more of the end of the upgrades compared to being on am5. if im going on am5 i'll get the 7500f anyway so this 5700x3d is nothing bad as its similar. this is going to last another 5 years for me just like how my 3600 lasted 5 years if nothing breaks

the pro vdh has been out since b550 launched all those years ago. and there are no actually new cpus launched since the 58x3d (more than 2y ago), everything since then have just been refreshes, including the 57x3d which is simply a lower clocked 58x3d. am4 is done for all but the most budget builders. for everyone else, am5 is reasonably affordable now; im seeing r5 7600 + 7700xt builds going for less than 1.3k brand new nowadays.

finally replaced it with 5700x3d into the b550m motherboard with all the same parts shifted over. turned it on and almost **** myself when i saw the same 3 lights came on.
luckily after 8 seconds the caps and scroll lock lights went off leaving only the numlock light on and it posted.
everything working fine now so seems like the problem was the 3600. now got a spare b450 board sitting around instead. always thought cpu would not have problems but guess this struck the lottery.

Just remember to update the BIOS for the new motherboard this is to optimze the performance
of the CPU as well as enhance the motherboard capability.
Do also do a clean install of Windows along with AMD Chipset driver, for AMD 3D V-cache CPU.
After you install AMD Chipset driver it will install a 3D V-cache optimize driver.

honestly right, we probably will never know. Can try and go sell on carousell, some sellers want to take in damaged cpus for a few bucks. Maybe can go and ask them what happened to it after they go do their testing

To be honest, have been purchasing CPUs in batches and trays, still have not kana faulty CPUs since the Zen 2/3 from AMD. Not that it is not possible, but there is a much slimmer chance of striking that lottery.

Normally the trouble shoot outcome lead to mostly faulty PSU, memory and motherboard compatibility.​
