As you age, you will have gradual muscle loss. The less you move, the harder it is to move as you age. Do take in more healthy proteins (like eggs) and calcium (milk), and do some regular muscle strength training. Can just carry some weights at home. No need to be strenuous, which may lead to injuries, but get that muscle stretched will do. My dad is 83 this year, still moves like 60+ with such lifestyle.

I am late 40s btw. I also started to lead a lifestyle like him. Earn and save how much for retirement also no use, when you don't even have the health for retirement. In my view, my dad leads the best retirement. Good health -> enjoy retirement.
Yes hubby and I save alot. And we r taking care of our health so that we could enjoy our wealth

My dad near to 80. Super active and healthy as no chronic diseases. My 101 late granny also very healthy n active. No chronic diseases but she was weak as heart weaken as aged and she had a great fall during morning walk

Looks good.
Mine will be 2 half-boiled eggs, 2 slices of bread and a cup of kopi-o with less sugar.

My bMi is only 18 as I am about 168cm. I do lots of cleaning n washing at home as I am a homemaker with no helper. Everyday I would exercise twice a day. Morning brisk walking at least 3km , sending kid to school and evening while my kid is playing at playground. Will do stretching before zzzz.
Many reports suggest moderate overweight is good especially as one age, the fats and mass will cushion ur fall and prevent/reduce hips, bone fracturing, which those with skinny lean body facing.

Especially for individuals above 50 yrs old, it's hard to build sufficient muscle mass to cushion the body from fall, and will prone to lose more lean muscle as they age.

So try to add more body weight as well, not just lean muscle ....

Once u get use to it, u will feel hungry. As long as I achieve daily nutrition for my body, I do not need to eat too much as my age is catching up
Base on ur amount of protein intake, u will not be able to add on any muscle mass, in fact u might be losing muscle mass as u age ....

Don't take my word for it, u can walk in to some clinic or gym to check ur body overall muscle mass or individual body part muscle mass. Yes it's not very accurate, but at least it's a guide line if ur muscle mass is maintaining or going down

With ur current calories and protein intake, u might suffer from muscle loss.

U mentioned about lifting weights, but I believe it's not too intensive, even if it is, ur lack of protein and calories will cause ur muscle tissues to break down from lifting weights and unable to recuperate and lose muscle mass.
That is why many worked out intensively hard at gym, but their muscle mass is reducing instead of increasing.

I suggest u drop by a visit to the nutritionist on your nutrition requirements with ur target in mind.

It's good effort on ur part on all those nutritious food, but ur effort might be wasted.

Mind if u can share ur total daily calories intake per day?

50 yrs old is still relatively young, so it's wrong to say u do not need to eat so much, I can see that u are very focus on nutrition, but might be lacking on ur calories intake

It's a balance.

Pls take no offence, ur palm looks wrinkle and dry, the part under ur thumb normally is a bit plump, but urs look flat and sunken. In fact u might be malnutrition...

Again pls take no offence, since u post online, I am just sharing my views, I might be wrong as well.

Cant help but think that you are wrestling with dissonance.

You held certain beliefs. But your actions indicated otherwise.

It's indeed worrying if you apply this to your family.
