Hi guys,

I have a Palit 1070 Dual. around 2 years 8 months old.
It suddenly stopped working, no display, fans do not spin.

When i RMA-ed with convergent, they took almost 1 month, then email me 2 photos with a 2 small section being corroded, and therefore they can't give me a replacement.
I have not done anything crazy to the card, not bitcoin, just simple gaming.

Do you all think this is acceptable? Share your opinions. Thanks.

Update: Got an email from Convergent, they are still sending my card to Palit. Hopefully Palit will Replace/Repair it for me.

Physical damage including corrosion will be rejected for warranty. Nothing new there.

Distributors only consolidate RMA products & ship to factories for repair.

Factory technicians will then check whether approved for RMAing.

Too bad the factory technician rejected your card.

probably due to humid weather. its perfectly normal to have low amount of corrosion after a long period.

probably can clean off with alcohol swabs.

Thanks for sharing, was about to pull the trigger on a Palit gfx. Staying far away from them. I suppose you buy cheap card you get cheap service too.

Disappointed with Convergent as well. Finding reason to reject RMA, they can go throw away their reputation. Even if Palit reject, they have to swallow the loss. Its so easy to remove the corrosion.

They can give whatever **** excuse, but if normal, non-mining usage of gfx and it fails, they should replace.

Otherwise just say outright, all humid countries for gfx NO WARRANTY.

If the card was physically check for corrosion and it didn't found any and later Convergent send you photos that your card is corroded.

then it's likely that it's the negligent that they ****ed up your card.

who know what they did to your card during the 1 month.

I have a 2 year old Palit GTX 1070 as well. I recently re-seated the HSF and there was no corrosion at all. I also had a GTX 1070 from another budget brand, Zotac and had no issues either.

So can't assume that just because it is a budget card, there will be issues.

Of course corrosion has nothing to do with "quality" of card.

But budget brand will give you **** after sales support by the looks of this.

How is rejecting warranty on grounds of corrosion bad sales support?

Convergent on longer doing direct 1-1?

Or they changed policies?
