Did a check again and I think the Logitech one was Kaira :s13:

Corbell has great after-sales service too.

Kaira also not bad but my exp with them are super long ago so cannot say now how :D

Anyway my personal experience with all the distro RMA in the past few years, I swear half my components from PCThemes build spoil sia dunno why. So decided to build my own now.

Convergent: Accepted my Palit GTX 970 for RMA and lent me a cheap loaner, but Palit took 3 months to fix the card during CNY.

Avertek: Back when they were the distro for AsRock, replaced my broken mobo with a refurb one of same model on the spot. Refurb works ok, but randomly requires a power cycle sometimes.

Techdynamic: Went on same day as Avertek, cos I dunno if it's my PSU or mobo that spoilt. Did a quick test for me and determined my PSU is fine.

Kaira: Logitech mouse started double clicking, chat with Logitech online support and got replacement immediately at Kaira.

Ban Leong: Very long time ago bought a cheap GT 440 Leadtek card, GPU died but somehow got a 1 to 1 replacement on the spot. Stupid refurb card needs PC to start up 3 times before POST but noob me thought it was my PSU problem lol

So yeah, check your GPU on the spot before leaving. Convergent will usually do a quick stress test on the spot, not sure about the others.

Well, if every distro is bad, no one is

Blame Singapore's consumer protection laws. Nobody rioting on the streets so they must think it is fine.

Whether its void or not, that's not the point.

RMA process is 1-month in, no resolution, with an email picture of "oxidation/corrosion" and no replacement.

If they are going to honour warranty, why send email of those kind of pictures? Preparing to reject RMA already.

So TS is without gfx for 1-month already within warranty period. I thought usual practice in this situation is there will be a loaner card?

TS please update us on how this is resolved.

I understand that Convergent is supposed to have a better reputation than this. Doesn't mean that they didn't fk up in this case. So many fanboys in this thread.

I don't think it's right to say that they/we are fanboys. You can see how TS handle this case.

When you buy anything from SLS. Resellers which selling all those parts to you will tell u in advance.

1) This part warranty covered by which distributor.
2) any parts spoilt after 7/14/30days. Please find distributor.

And the funny part is that, TS just bo chup, never check his own card first before sending in.. now Convergent/Palit mentioned that there are oxidization on the card.. which probably TS is unaware.

If TS is aware, then which means he's testing his luck whether he can get it exchange?

If not, what is his intention?

hi ra[g]e, ya the fanboys here are so scary.
I RMA through my Sim lim shop cuz i bought from them. so thats why i don't have a loan card, but its okay i'm surviving on on-board, playing overcook 2.

ya firezero10, i started this thread because i wanna know if its a norm to reject RMA due to oxidation of parts, whether its rejection by distri or palit.
And if anyone has graphics card with oxidized PCB as well. seems like my previous ASUS GTX 780 doesn't have.
If many people just suck thumb with their oxidized and warranty-voided graphics card then i digress.
Its $600 down the drain to me. which is why i'm upset.
I wanted to re-purpose this 1070 into my HTPC and buy a new one during black friday. i was aimming to get galax or palit's 2070super cuz i think they are cheap and palit served me well, that was of course before it broke.

I agree that palit's rejection should not be related to convergent's reputation cuz their job was just to send it back. For this i'm sorry for blaming convergent cuz what they did was to inform me there is a risk of rejection due to oxidation.

Let me get my graphics card back. hopefully it being fixed, i'll update everyone here.

If i can get it back fixed, it shows that palit is not so bad afterall, and convergent too.

I wanna warn the rest also. next time when u RMA your motherboard and graphics card, please remember to brush off all the dust and scrub off any oxidized parts, maybe it doesn't help, but you have nothing to lose.

I have my fair share of bad experience with convergent as well. But their service recovery has been so far pleasant.

as long as u push the right button. You can get it solve pretty quickly.

Yes i'm aware of point 1 and 2.
The reason why i went to shop is because i go sim lim more frequently than i go to ulu ubi. and transport is more convenient. the sales person told me that his customers can always RMA through him for convenience, distri will send courier to sim lim couple of times a week to collect parts for RMA.
The only thing is RMA through shop will take maybe a week more, due to the change of hands. which i'm willing to bare. my card was collected the next day after i drop off at the shop, i think 2nd or 3rd Nov.

And yes i'm unaware of my card was oxidized. and also this is the first time i heard of oxidized parts will void warranty. If i know, i would have taken a toothbrush or something to brush it off. maybe it will or will not help but whatever lah.

No need to guess what intention or hidden agenda i have. I only have 1 intention. i just wan a working 1070.

One does not simply 'brush off' oxidised parts. Its the chemical reaction between metal and mositure. U will need to chemically treat it or can try sanding it off if its on the heatpipes.

But i did once sent in a badly oxidised MSI gpu (from carousell in which he was mining). Corbell mention need send back to MSI and wait 1-2 mthd. If MSI reject, they will let me know. Heng heng MSI changed the entire pcb for me.

+1 for MSI

P.S. I would have returned to Carousell seller immediately instead of risking RMA

i dont think warranty dont cover oxidised and not mining caused oxidized is the humidity.

u imagine google, nvidia has their own game streaming data center. they loading as intense as Mining. if all their card oxidise think they will lose money.

Seller can also reject since he gave me receipt and can claim i spoil it. No need go thru such trouble. Corbell is reliable and reasonable to me.

To local distro, oxidise can also occur from inexperienced watercoolers like dripping aome fluid onto the card which will oxidise or rust over time.

But luckily, the fault was that one of the memory modules spoil somehow. And i did brush off as much dirt as possible before sending in.

yeap i wasn't aware at all, which is why i started this thread to see if its common practice to reject RMA due to oxidation. At the beginning i was very upset because it feels like distri is rejecting based on very minor superficial damage.
The photos just look like dust that sticked to the PCB due to heat.

Corbell is very fast and responsive. I got my Xbox game pass very quickly after a single PM.

Then again, I've had no issues with any of the other distros.

Update:
My GPU came back, all is good. Seems like the exact same GPU.
Thanks Convergent for sending my part and try to get Palit to fix, though with oxidized part.
