If the consumer knows about how it all played out, go ahead and seek out the truth from Opennet or MyRepublic. If not, one will not be able to make correct judgment, or worse get smoked even further, and then what happens in the end? Come online and propagate their own "findings and conclusions"?

So if the consumer is well versed in the whole Singapore FTTH network, like I said in what capacity will the consumer be going in? To get the key personals in Opennet and Myrepublic involved to answer the consumer's questions?

They ask opennet because they don't believe what MyRepublic said, yes plausible reason.

They share online (take note u said share online) the conflicting replies is not indicative of the disbelief of Myrepublic, but rather confused and attempt to seek answers to whom is telling the truth.

This is hence indicative that these consumers are perhaps not well versed in the FTTH network in Singapore, how would they be able to question Openent and Myrepublic further without drawing a wrong conclusion or worse, being smoked?

Therefore once again I see this as a futile effort. Then again I really don't think anyone would go all the way, and be so free to go do a through investigation. and I stress through investigation is not just email or phone correspondence with their customer officers but with those running the passive infrastructure from opnenet and those network engineers at Myrepublic.

IDA should be the ones do all these, and not us consumers. If not what is the point of Public Service?

I don't know if I'm reading you correctly but it appears you are either over-thinking or doubting the intelligence/motives of unhappy customers who just wants to ask questions to better protect themselves?

You also seem to be discouraging, discrediting these customers implying that irregardless of how technically well-versed they are or not, they should not be questioning anyone but simply keep quiet and accept MyRepublic reasons for repeated no-show and endless delays. Seriously?

I on the other hand doubt many customers will accept or behave like you wished - judging from the complaints all around here, facebook and the press.

Well, fyi - these email were originally posted/shared on both MyRepublic and Opennet facebook seeking their further response, which like I said before is what any right-minded customers will do and have done.

And if these customers are still unable to get a straight answer, then of course like you said, they will logically escalated their case to IDA for further investigation.

Hi guys... I'm on My Republic network for almost 2 years. going renew in a few weeks time...(June) overall my feedback of it is pretty good. Maybe i'm light torrenter, I'm just a heavy stream consumer, but never had any real big issues with my esr9850.

I read a few recontract posts and am interested in the 39.99 300mbps plan. I also saw it as one of the option in my login page.

My question is, are there any delays or interruptions if i decide to do this? I am on static IP address and I am also thinking about getting one of your AC routers. I understand that I will have to register the mac address again for the new router. I'm light user but continuous user (lol if that makes sense) Just worried after coming back here after a long while and see so many ON complaints.

I have just recently been upgrade to the new 1gbps plan with static IP option carried over from my old Gamer 150mbps plan.

There will be a cutover from the old to new plan. Typically if done right, most people feedback a half day down time. You have to cross your fingers and pray on this thou.

Now static IP don't need to provide mac address anymore. It is tied to the ONT and thus any device connect to it will be issued the same static IP address via MR DHCP which imho is a good way to manage this. This also means we can no longer fall back to the dynamic private IP when there is something wrong with the static IP service.

misato, may i know the waiting time for your upgrade? When did you sign up for the upgrade and when did they call you for the installation?

I waited for a long time... my contract with MR expired in late Jan this year. Its only until the 5th May did MR managed to get my service going.
To be fair, the 1st scheduled attempt to install the service was on 28th March which failed and since then another 3 more attempts was made before they got the act together on the 4th one. While not representative of the overall experience that MR can provide but there is quite a few real experience from formers in which MR managed to screw up big time. There still a fair bit of recently upgraded users struggling with ASUS router issues as well but that isn't really MR fault as they do not specifically lock down the ASUS firmware for MR purposes.

misato, i think you are the lucky few receiving better service. I've been with MR since Feb 2012. i signed up for 1Gbps plan late Jan this year and was told the installation will be in April, latest, then. It's now May, I've just gave them a ring last week and was told I will be given a phone call on Monday 5th May for installation appointment. no one call. I've just called them a while ago. Guy name Alfie picked up and told me he has scheduled a lady, Hui Min, who is in charge of such upgrading to call me by the following week Friday.
Basically an appointment for a phone call to make an another appointment for installation. Sounds like some kind of delaying tactics been applied here. When I questioned when is the likely installation date, he told me that only Hui Min can answer that question and I have to wait till 16th May for the answer. Amazing service huh..... really disappointing.

My installation suppose to be tomorrow 2~6pm, half an hour ago I receive MR call saying ON do not have enough resources to do FTO...

I did applied for 1Gbps plan and was told installation would be in Q3, that was fine with as my PURE contract will end in Jul so I probably won't have to pay for OTP. But then in 1st Mar I received an email saying I was selected to be in BETA! I honestly did not expect it as being DIYer for so many years, I know that being the first don't always means you will get the best, in fact, most of the time, its the opposite. lol. at this time I still think with or without getting to be in MR 1Gbps plan, either way its fine with me. thus I never post or bug MR for installation date despite they claimed all BETA user will get to install in March,(or is it getting a call in Mar, nvm.)

To my surprise they called me up about 10 days ago saying they will have my installation in 2nd Apr! Okie, so I arrange my schedule to be at home on this date...then I received a call at ~1900hrs saying they can't do it tomorrow, no surprise, the blame is ON. asked for the next schedule, no idea, can't tell you, don't know when ON can fix the issue...blah blah blah.

After so many issues with ON, I honestly don't understand why MR still keep taking/arranging so many orders in this period of time. Keep blaming ON will only save you for a few weeks or maybe a month, but whats next? you already knew ON can't or won't be able--or don't want--to manage so many MR installations, why are you still keep calling/emailing the users to fix appointment you can't guarantee?

As they say, don't make promise you can't keep. I'm sure you will have less swearing from your customers.

Kelvin, could you PM me please? or tell me which way is the fastest to have my plan changed. I don't like to call if I have to wait half an hour or more. like to have a direct person I can contact, email is fine, Thanks.

Finally connected to MR 1Gbps. didn't want to waste my time waiting, especially after all the horror story by many here, I ask my mom to stay at home in case MR do turn up. lol.

schedule was 9~1pm and they came at 1230hrs. I was expecting them to call before reaching so I can tell them not to connect up the AC68U but never mind, connecting was tested OK. did reach >900Mbps on one of the local speedtest server, for some reason, the transmission will freeze half way for most of them on my PC with intel NIC. maybe speed is too fast cause didn't experience with notebook NIC, speed drop to ~600Mbps for notebook.

I have low expectation, or should I say I only expect better speed than my previous PURE with 100/50. Compare to current offer by other RSPs, what more can I complain about for $49/month?

Don't infer my words and manufacture meanings.

This is nothing to do with intelligence, I didn't say/doubt the intelligence of those consumers. Besides, intelligence is too broad a word to be used here. Here my point is about specialized knowledge. For example: A consumer might be a PhD in English, but that doesn't mean that he/she knows about FTTH in Singapore to discern the two replies from Opennet and Myrepublic.

I didn't not say that consumers should keep quiet to every problem they faced. My argument was simply question specific. To this question of discerning discrepancies between the replies of Opennet and Myrepublic. My point, and for the third time I am saying this: is that are the consumers well versed enough to carry out an investigation for themselves? Are they able to discern whose's explanation is truthful after getting Opennet and Myrepublic's replies on the initial discrepancies of their feedback for consumers? If not risk being smoked again, and worse off, come online and post their "findings" and in turn mislead others.

Of course people will complain and ask, be it they know or not and this day and age there are so many channels to do so. The million dollar question is: and again, will they be able to know who is telling the truth?

Define "straight answer". If "straight answer" to u means a flat simple layman reply, I highly doubt that question will have a simple answer. This is not some simple question of "why is my internet down? And they reply Oh maintenance". Its asking Opennet to explain why Myrepublic said the ball is in their court and vice versa. There is definitely a need to explain the workflow, and technicalities and hence won't just be a "straight answer"

Yes go to IDA, and why not go straight instead of asking themselves? Getting a discrepancy in the first place is enough indication that the consumer should get IDA to be involved.

Anyway I am out of this argument. Its not my fight anyway since I am not one of the stakeholders.

Hi Phen8210,

For monetary dispute, I suggest you sign up as a CASE member.
Then ask CASE to negotiate with MR directly as a mediator.

Regards.

Sigh still no response from MR, and the money not yet refunded..

Can anyone give me advice, i suspect this is not a simple issue anymore.

After a month, the speed tested has dropped. Using Singtel server, it has gone down to even less than 20mbps! The fastest as 720mbps! Is this another gimmick to get people going then slowly make your life miserable! Just like the nasi ayam seller who started very well then slowly trim down servings, cut on taste... to make money!
When can all these scams end! You can trust no service provider here! Name it hotline to help you, yet you can wait forever to get people to answer you, and forever hasn't come yet!

Your posting makes me laugh but I can't agree more.

Something is wrong with connectivity to singtel, losing packets when I'm connecting to a singtel client.

Speedtest results confirms that issue.

Ya lah but I'm MR customer so I call Singtel up and ask EH YOUR INTERNET got connectivity issue to mine is it? That's not my job now. -_-

Back on the issue itself, I rather hear it from the backend savvy rep if the speed issues are solely temporary and if they are aware of it. Not who's fault is it.

MR Reps, what is wrong?

I believe this has been mentioned many times that speedtest is just a gauge and not everything.

MR did not optimize the routes to the speedtest servers as this may show like a form of cheating.
