Hi,

My plan is expiring with singtel and I'm looking to sign up a new plan. Looking around and was recommended by my friend about this 1gbps promotion at $33. M1 has the $39 at 100mbps plus a fixed line.

I'm not exactly a heavy user, and most of my activity online lies within the context of surfing , emailing , YouTube and drama. Which is good?

I read that some users have complained about the appointment issues.

However, I am glad that the installation turned out to be very smooth and the technician was very friendly.

But in terms of connection speed, I am only able to attain 100Mbps for my laptops even with direct LAN connection.

My download speed have yet to exceed 200Mbps, needless to say 1Gbps. It is indeed disappointing.

I don't know if the issue lies with my laptop NIC or something else?

Haha... Which friend told you that 1Gbps is at $33/mth? I only know it was at $49.99/mth all the while since the launch till now.

1. Check your laptop network adapter whether it can support 1Gbps.

2. Which router are you using?

3. Test with direct connection to ONT on http://speedtest.myrepublic.com.sg/.

Hi Guys,

I am so fed-up with the irresponsible and lack of customer respect with Myrepublic that I want to consolidate all affected brothers here who have to take leave to be at home for the planned appointment date and time but only to be greeted with no-show or last minutes call without any service recovery.

Kindly email to me with the details maybe the Account number if you dont mind and once i consolidated I will initiate a former complaint with the relevant party. I really hope IDA will do something about this as its affecting a lot of customer and this is not correct.

email:louischin78@gmail.com

Regards,
Louis

Question: Does MR do timely installations on Sundays?

I had my OpenNet troubles apparently resolved (I had to personally call OpenNet, not MR, every other day to hound them until they fixed what I presume to be an insufficient fiber capacity issue) yesterday evening. Called OpenNet this morning to verbally confirm that my port is finally active and the case is considered close (or is it? I don't know)

Early this morning I received an email assigning me my fixed IP address from MR. Subsequently, got a call at 11am to schedule an MR installation for Sunday 9am to 1pm. At least I don't have to waste a day of leave if no one shows up.

Want to check if anyone out here got their installations successfully done on a Sunday.

nothing wrong with fighting for your own rights... but I think we have to direct it to the correct party...

if its ON's issue that caused MR not to be able to fulfil, then we should focus on ON and not MR.

Of course, MR is the one who did the schedule, but they are the ones who got screwed too... their FE wasted their time waiting too..

But then, since MR is the one who did the schedule, they should complain to ON (which I am sure ON will not give a sh*t too la).

So now, maybe with a new thread, MR can use this thread and fire at ON.
Those adding to the thread should at the same time fire at ON and IDA too, instead of only MR.
This will add pressure to all parties.
And with pressure, someone will have to pop and do something and then the truth will be out...

no point just pointing fingers at MR really (if it is really ON's fault)... because with the strength of MR, they are not able to fight the big guys... we must crowd source! haha

Dear MyRepublic subscribers,

We are aware of the longer-than-average waiting time on our hotlines. This is largely due to enquiries regarding OpenNet delays or 1Gbps fibre broadband installations.

We know that communication is important to our subscribers, and are currently increasing our resources and manpower to handle the higher volume of calls. We are also in the midst of implementing two new numbers specifically to handle enquiries about OpenNet delays and 1Gbps installations, which we will announce very soon.

You can also reach out to us here on Facebook or on Twitter(@MyRepublic) if you have enquiries on those or other matters. We recommend that you DM us as we require personal information (e.g. NRIC, email address) to check on your status. Thanks very much for your patience.

I’m a victim of the failed 1gps ongoing saga. Having complained to all the relevant authorities (MR, Opennet and IDA), I have been told to wait till Opennet can top up the splitter.

For the benefit of all the other folks who are in a similar situation (e.g. last minute cancellations, no-shows etc etc), I have created a simple guide as to the possible steps you can take as a displeased customer.

(1) Call the MR 24/7 hotline at : 6436 6638
• Expect for calls to be unanswered due to heavy call traffic and insufficient MR manpower
• Should you be lucky to get through, do record your call to avoid any miscommunication or misunderstandings in the future
• If nobody picks up, you can try your luck with their business sales hotline at: 6436 6618

(2) Email MR at myservice@myrepublic.com.sg
• Do remember to record down your ticket number etc

(3) Contact MR via their livechat on their webpage http://www.myrepublic.com.sg

(4) Contact MR management via email or personal visit to their office
• Malcolm Rodrigues: CEO & Co-founder
• KC Lai: Chief Commercial Officer & Co-Founder
• Greg Mittman: V.P. & Co-Founder
• Lawrence Chan: Head of Business Development and Product Management

(5) Contact Opennet directly to verify the cause of delay / cancelled appointment. Hotline number: 6563 4273 or email: info@opennet.com.sg , ask@opennet.com.sg

(6) Complain to Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (“IDA”) and Ministry of Communication and Information (“MCI”)
• Minister for Communications and Information, YAACOB Ibrahim ( yaacob_ibrahim@mci.gov.sg )
• Senior Minister of State, Lawrence WONG ( lawrence_wong@mci.gov.sg )
• Minister of State, Ms SIM Ann ( sim_ann@moe.gov.sg )
• Permanent Secretary of MCI, Aubeck KAM ( mci_aubeck_kam@mci.gov.sg )
• Executive Deputy Chairman of IDA, Steven Robert LEONARD ( steve_leonard@ida.gov.sg )
• Managing Director of IDA, Ms Jacqueline POH ( jacqueline_poh@ida.gov.sg )
• Senior Director (Next Generation Infrastructure), Philip Heah ( philip_heah@ida.gov.sg )

(7) Contact HWZ user louischin at louischin78@gmail.com who is planning to organize a joint petition / complaint about MR and Opennet to IDA

Do note that OpenNet frontline CSO will certainly mention there's no such issue as Fiber Top Up/ splitter top up as they do not have access to the backend system handled by the senior team from Opennet responsible for communicating with the various service provider.

Thus, any Service Provider will be capable of informing you that there are issues with the area due to the need of fiber top up or splitter top up. OpenNet front line won't be able to advise.

Guys, quick honest question.

How do you want us - and MyRepublic - to handle the OpenNet delays better?

We understand there's unhappiness over the OpenNet delays, and even understand why it looks like we're pushing blame. Would it be better if we posted proof of the OpenNet acknowledging these delays on their end? Or is it an issue of timely communication? If there are lapses in the way we're handling this, we will honestly welcome the feedback, and explain what's happening and why.

johnnny,

honestly, there are many issues which happened in the 1gbps rollout...

But since you are just asking about the ON delays, lets just stick to it...

One thing MR has to understand is that we have to take leave to be there and wait for ON and MR to come.
And we are "threatened" that if we do not show up, there is a penalty of 200+ (I understand this is charged by ON, not MR).
But when MR or ON dun show up, its always last minute and no one takes responsibility for it.
We wasted a day of leave, and from having high hopes of getting better speed, to nothing at all, in a matter of hours. All with no one taking responsibility for it.

If we not there, we are penalised, and if they are the ones who did not do the job, we are penalised. That is not fair.
On this, I think to be fair to consumers, ON should provide some form of compensation, or simply do not "threaten" the consumers.
If you can show us prove that it is the fault of ON and not MR (to each affected user), I think the consumers and charge ON under lemon law.

So far, everything comes from MR to us.
I mean ON simply keeps quiet and do nothing.
MR is the one facing the music, getting hated, being slammed at.
But I have to agree somewhere that it is the responsibility of MR to keep users informed of any changes in a timely manner, or face the music.
So to get your ass covered, provide timely information and updates, not last minute.
And if it is really not your fault, show them the proof, and advice them what they can do to make things happen faster, who they can complain to, and hat their rights are on situations like these...

SO yeah... I think proof is good... and timely communication is very much needed.

Yes. Is MR willingly to do that? Is MR obligated by contract with Opennet not to release such correspondences to the public?

Or is it an issue of timely communication? .

Yes. MR communications is terrible. Customers have to chase MR repeatedly before getting any form of non-committed replies. Worse is the recent "disappearance" of MR by not answering calls, nor answering emails etc etc

every1 know that ON cockup a lot but i cannot understand why it seems like ON failing SO MUCH more with MR than with other ISP. Is there some under table thing going on between ON and ST? or is MR using ON as scapegoat?

If got proof then faster post lah!
