Well, now I'm confuse again...:s11:

Ok, for wireless, will there be a big different in speed between 802.11n and 802.11ac?

For wired, does realtek pcie gbe family controller nic support up to 1gbps?
Whether this NIC support a interent speed of more than 100mpbs?

I understand speed might varies in each situation for wireless, so let say for example, under normal situation. No wall, just a laptop and a router.

For wired, I just asking if the realtek pcie gbe family controller NIC card can support up to 1gbps, not the highest speed I can obtain with this card. Honestly, i failed to see what situation might affect this question...

TBH, I'm thinking for asking myrepublic directly, but their CSO seem to have less knowledge on this then me. Seriously, the girl I spoke to earlier just straight out told me she don't know...Anyone here know anyone from myrepublic that can help me?

Yes, your wired card (GBE) will be able to support 1Gbit as long as you are using Cat5e or above spec'd ethernet cables. For wireless-AC, as long as your devices support the specification or you get the wirelessAC adapter card, you should be getting better speed, though keeping in mind distance, interference, walls etc.

Yes, gbe family means gigabit ethernet. Wired usually can reach their rated speed easily, unlike wireless where you have to divide and divide the advertised speed..

Stop turning this into a us vs them scenario, it make you sound like a fanboy. No where did I mention VQ is the best, i have no loyalty except to myself and what is best in value for my purposes. In fact I'm one of the harshest critic of VQ and their billing and outage issues.

And how does your senseless defending of MR not give them a bad name? Ironic much? :s22::s22::s22:

Don't anyhow put word into my mouth find me the post or black and white where I have ever stated that. In other circumstances that could be construed as defamation and i could sue you for it.

I'll take your answer as the official MR stand. It's good enough for me.

Well, it sounds like you are against MR idea of going for 1gbps... I am doubtful of whether MR can substain that 1gbps or not as well, But im keeping my comments about it until it is up and running at least.

oh actually was looking at ASUS extreme VI MB which comes with the AC Card, its just that i don't currently own any AC router nor LAN cable that reaches my room.. i might just try to find a LAN cable that runs to my room.

I believe a normal B85 + pci-e wireless AC card is much cheaper than ASUS extreme VI ...

I just signed up for Ultra plan and opted for the AC68U router. I'm using iMac which has support for AC Wifi. Does anyone know the speed it can reach if connect via wifi? Close to 1Gbps?

Assuming the iMac's AC implementation is the same as or similar to the 2013 Macbook Air AC implementation, same room results should be in the vicinity of 500 mbps. The speedtest below is on StarHub 1 G, wifi, same room, AC, using the Apple Extreme AC router.

If you're using a LAN connection, you can expect in the vicinity of 900 mbps. All this is theoretical though; I can't think of a single site that can dump data on you fast enough (you MAY be able to hit very high speeds on torrents, but even torrents can rarely max out even a 200 mbps connection, far less a 1 gig connection). The speedtest below is on a wired connection, same router, Toshiba notebook, Cat 5e cable.

The more important thing is, 1 gig speed is "smoke and mirrors". If you're on MR 150 and that's working well for you, good, you're not losing too much. If you're due for a recon anyway, you're getting the possibility of more without paying anything extra (since the prices are still 49 and 59). So "why not" becomes the bottom-line... and why not indeed. :)

Giro need to submit to office original copies. If his Giro is signature then must be signature, thumbprint then must be thumbprint.

Basically the MR roadshow is more for people who want to know more information and sign up.

Otherwise, one can just sign up online.
