1Gbps FAQ
Why haven’t I gotten an update or call about my installation yet?
When you receive a call-back from us depends on various factors such as the exact time/date/place that you signed up and whether you are an existing MyRepublic customer.
Please understand that due to strong demand (imagine a few thousand customers within a few days), even those who signed up for 1Gbps late January may have their installations in April.
As stated on our official marketing material, the start of our 1Gbps rollout was always intended to be during March. If we were unclear in communicating this, we sincerely apologise for the confusion.
We have already started calling up our very first 1Gbps customers and will continue to do so.
To be clear, the very first customers will get their 1Gbps connections installed this month (March). Due to great demand, others who signed up a bit later may be installed in April or later as we process all the orders. This applies to existing customer re-contracts as well.
I read some complaint online / heard bad feedback. What’s up with that?
Regretfully there has been some miscommunication with a few customers, leading to misguided expectations as to when their call-back or installations would happen.
We are sincerely sorry for those who have been disappointed.
As stated on our official marketing material, the start of our 1Gbps rollout was always intended to be during March.
We have started calling our very first customers back and they will be installed in March, as planned. Due to great demand however, even those who’ve signed up slightly later in late January may have their installations in April.
What is this Beta Test thing? Should I be worried?
Our “Beta” actually refers to the activation of our first 200 customers to gather feedback, which will help optimise the online experience for the thousands more to come.
To be clear: “Beta” is NOT an unstable or sub-standard product. It is a real working 1Gbps connection. Those who have been invited to it are simply those who have signed up the earliest.
“Beta” will also only last one week, so not to worry. You’re simply getting your 1Gbps a bit earlier.
