Hi everyone. Yes, there are a number of customers affected by OpenNet rescheduling issues. Trust me, we're frustrated too.

When someone successfully signs up or upgrades for 1Gbps, MyRepublic must first send the order with the customer address to OpenNet to check for any fibre infrastructure or backend issues.

It is only when these orders are approved by OpenNet that MyRepublic arranges for installation dates with the customer.

What's been happening, however, is that every day, OpenNet informs us of delays for some of our customers’ places, citing insufficient fibre resources and processing errors among other technical issues... DESPITE the fact that they approved AND arranged installation dates prior.

We have voiced our displeasure to OpenNet, and are now working around-the-clock to verify the installation status of each individual customer.

To all affected customers - we promise you that we will inform you of your new installation dates the moment OpenNet gets back to us.

Understand your predicament. Very very unhappy about the missed appointment, it is not entirely your fault but it is on you if OpenNet told you of the delay and you didn't communicate that to me.

Now I have little to zero confidence that anyone from OpenNet will show up at the next scheduled appointment. Who is to say the same thing won't happen again.

I signed up for the 1Gbps plan on the first day. Was told thag I would be contacted by end Feb. Feb came and went. I wrote a mail and someone replied that there would be some delays. March is going to end and no calls. My contract with singtel will end soon. What should I do now? Should contacts be made when delays occur? Or people just assume that we know about all the problems... appreciate a bit of information from MR if instaalation cannot happen.

I have to say this.

I am really disappointed with current cust service standard.

My view, alot local support MR as we are fed up with the big 3 and willing to take the leap of faith to provide support to a new ISP.

Initial cust service by Mr Lawrence really is no horse run. Truly all out to service gao gao. Missed the Great pricing, Great speed and supreme cust service given.
Some game latency might not be as good as promised but I can live with it looking at the prompt and all out cust support services given.

Now? This forum look more like existing customers helping MR to maintain cust services by helping to provide basic troubleshooting. MR staff ninja and only reply on enquire to new signup.
Keep pointing finger to opennet and overseas server.
Where the black and white to support your saying?

I tried some overseas server which you mention affect all iSP but no. Other ISP is ok.
What we see is your staff not proper trained and provide inaccurate info.

MR you better buck up or lose the good foundation built up by Mr Lawrence hardwork. Cust service is very impt. Should really look into it.

Lucky I didnt upgrade to the 1Gbps or I sure faint...

Hi, firstly we are thankful for your support in MR. We has and always aim to be different from the other 3 telecom such as not controlling the torrent speed or anything.

Truth is OpenNet has been screwing up big time. Which is why there's a need for us to write into IDA with regards to OpenNet issue. This isn't just limited to MyRepublic as OpenNet lack of resources and incompetence exist since the start of Fiber era in Singapore.

Pointing fingers without truth would only lead to lawsuits but we are upfront and truthful about the issues presented by OpenNet.

However, clauses in the agreement protect them from the lack of resources or availability of resources. Thus, the only way to get them to buck up would be through IDA. We are after all at the mercy of OpenNet.

Incidents such as delayed in installation period by months are widely published on ST newspaper. But that's just one of the issues caused by OpenNet.

As mention, China is and will always be an issue. The only solution possible would be talking to CU and CT or create local cache to improve the issues.

We monitor popular games server on a daily basis and do everything we can to ensure it's up to standard.

Do let me know if you have any issues. Drop me a mail @ Solomon@myrepublic.com.sg. I Will do what i can to assist to the best of my ability.

Can MR pls create local cache for china websites to solve this access problem or at the lease minimize it?

Also I do not know what's the deal about other ISP also having issues with china websites, cause personally for me,I had no such issues accessing them when I was with Singtel the last 4 years. After I switch to MR this 1 year, my family started complaining frequent no access to china websites.

All those with no show cases by opennet beside posting here should call IDA about it. As mention there are laws protecting Opennet so letters to IDA from MR will most likely be futile. MR being a ISP provider also can't ask their user to complain to IDA themselves.
So I as a user would encourage others users to complain directly to IDA.
I believe it would be more effective when enough users complain directly to IDA themselves.
Quite simple actually. Put enough heat on IDA, they will then be force not to ignore Opennet incompetence.
At least that's what I believe. :)

Just got hooked up on the 1Gbps :D

I signed up for the beta and received several calls prior to both Openet and MyRepublic installations. Appointment call was made last week 11th March (Tuesday) and was for 4pm-6pm 20th March (Thursday) for Openet and 9am-1pm 23rd March (Sunday) for MyRepublic.

Openet came to hook up my house with the TP, since I missed the free one 2 years back. One of the technicians sms-ed me about 11am asking if they could come earlier since they were free but I was busy so they only came at the arranged time of 4pm. Was done in an hour by 2 of their technicians.

A MyRepublic technician just came and left after installing the ONT, was done in 20mins. Was surprised when the technician called at about 10am asking if I would be home around 1pm to do an earlier installation.

Initial test through speedtest.net(Viewquest server) are about 650+ down/400+up/3ms for wired, and 304down/250up/3ms for wireless over 5ghz band. I'm using a Asus RT-N66U flashed over with asusmerlin. The technician did say that the current speed test servers available in SG are not made to handle the new 1Gbps connection with the exception of Viewquest server. Will be testing the connection over the next few days :D

Hope those who signed up for it will get it soon :D

Using cmd to ping funshion.com multiple times, I'm getting about 135ms with request time-out every now and then.

For tudou.com, about 275ms with request time-out every now and then also.

Speedtest to Beijing (Beijing Mobile Communications) gives 93down/9.5up/63ms

Hmmm so not much of a difference then.

Would give up on the upgrade.
