half the time, TRS posts half truths...

why didn't he voice it out in forum ( or maybe he did ? )

not happy ? REFUND him the damn money :) more bandwidth for all of us.

get him to try other ISP, he'll vomit blood. MR is already pretty good IMHO. I've been on ALL the ISP accept ViewQuest. Nothing good to say about them frankly

From his article, I presumed he is a new signup then why is there a need for refund?

Some parts which he mentioned are quite true.

The whole thing MR is doing is rather unorthodox in terms of internet subscription. That is to get people to opt-in before the service is actually ready for installation.

Why would I say its only in terms of internet subscription? Just look at games can liao. Its somewhat similar like pre-ordering games. u paid for it but the game hasn't even release, and u didn't even know whether it will be good or not lol.

Therefore some people won't go pre-ordering games...the same thing applies here to MR, and it sounds to me the author belongs to that category...just look at what he said, and I quote him: "I felt cheated, I didn't sign up for a internet service that would only be installed in a few months time"

So if signing up for an internet subscription that is going to be installed in a few months time is considered cheating to him, why would he jump into it in the first place? I am curious cos its made known to people who opt-in for it.

So either someone misled him into signing up OR he didn't read carefully and get all the information correct, see 1Gbps at $50 and mai tu liao just opt-in straightaway.

As for the beta I thought we are supposed to PM MR staff if we are interested...so how would he don't know that he is in beta? Why would MR add him if beta sign up needs people who has opt-in to do a secondary submission? If thats the case everyone who has opt-in and didnt sign up for beta but eligible for 1st wave due to location would have gotten email for beta liao loh.

That said MR still need to do something:

1. explain the delays and talk about what is to be done.
2. give existing subscribers, especially those out of contract but opt-in liao to retain existing prices.

That why MR is adopting a double-edged sword strategy.

Hi, is this the right thread for the 1gbps plan? Anyway I believe we were one of the early birds to sign up for it and my dad just told me that one of your guys called him to inform him that the 1gbps plan can only come in May. Why is this taking so long? Previously you guys mentioned March, now it's May?! I'm currently using Singtel 100mbps plan and the contract has already expired a few days ago. We were really looking forward to it.

If you guys cannot keep to your schedule, don't make empty promises. We are thinking to cancel our application and look at other ISPs.

I'm 75% certain of jumping ship to VQ after contract ends next year. 20% for staying on with MR, 5% to jump to M1.

If quality of internet deteriorates as a result of this 1Gbps marketing push or more unannounced/uninformed hiccups (like yesterday's 1KB/s) happen more frequently, then I'm totally going off to VQ.

That or MR offers re-contract for 1Gbps @ $19.90/month :vijayadmin:

The contract hasn't started =). As mention before hand, termination before installation would not incur any charges.

The minor delay is partially caused by the need to ensure everything is working fine. We certainly want a robust network that is capable of handling any amount of user on it and functioning on speed test.

The process of fiber connection can be rather complicated in Singapore such as having to apply for an op co and tons of steps and approvals needed before we can began on installation.

We do give existing subscriber who's contract has expired priority installation thus they are in beta/ early install while ensuring they are enjoying promotional rate as before during their few days or week wait during end of current contract and installation of new point.

Then tell your marketing dept and blithering bosses that then. NEVER promote anything where consumers see it as a promise, only to see MR fail to deliver the goods in a timely manner.

Regular consumers do not care what OpenNet delays, infra delays, preparation delays whatever the f*ck it is. All consumers see is MR not living up to expectations. When you do NOT hit expectations and are NOT part of the traffic light ISPs, what f*cking incentive is there to even move away from fruit popsicle coloured tube to purple rocket tube which can't ignite & set off?

If my sister was to be getting a contract with an ISP this year instead of this time last year, she definitely won't be getting MR after all the bad reviews and comments as a result of this. She'd go "no diff from Stinktel, Starfug and MHuan what, so why change to this MyFail when they also are no better?"

That's the mentality of the average consumer you're dealing with your $50/month 1Gbps local contract promotion mumbo jumbo yadda yiddi

I signed up 1Gbps since January and no one call me regarding installation appointment till date. My neighbour signed up Singnet fiber 200mbps last month and already had the installation done and now enjoy using it happily!

and... MR trying to push the blame of delay to Opennet????

stutters for me all the time, but becomes worse at night as well

didn't use to be so bad when I was on VQ. The twitch experience while I'm on MR is at least 10x worse

I have a subscription to ongamenet but it's a total waste of $10 since I can't even watch it without it buffering every 1min

i'm currently a starhub broadband customer looking into hopping on your GAMER plan.

i've got some questions i gotta know.

1) provided i'm running an optimal LAN cable, say maybe cat6? will i get sub-100 ping for connections to asia (thailand, india, china, korea, most importantly oceania and japan)

2) what about connections to US or EU? will i get sub-200?

3) since you guys are rolling it out on april, i shouldn't terminate my current broadband until then right? what if there is a delay and i end up not having my current connection terminated before the installation/start of the contract?

4) i don't need the home voice add-on, can i refuse it and not have to pay for something i don't need?

cheers

I can only answer question 1 based on my personal experience alone. Ping is not optimal, I personally don't think MR is well known for having good pings across the board especially in the SEA region since a year back.

Taiwan and Republic of Korea are the few I can remember from the back of my head that is still not really resolved yet.

Cheers

Hey MyRepublic,

I think next time when you email people saying you'll contact them in the 3rd week of Feb to update them on the situation, you should follow through with that promise. I understand there were delays, etc and I've been following the forum threads closely since I'm a HWZ geek so I know that your community managers/social media guys have been communicating this to us.

However I feel for those guys who aren't (regular, non-tech savvy consumers), and have been waiting for updates on more traditional outlets like email or phone calls. You probably need to communicate with your customers who signed up for the plan, at least through a simple email blast, I'm sure that's not hard to do especially on mailchimp or whichever program your marketing team is using.

Just some friendly advice, from a future customer who is still waiting for the call (got the beta email already).

Thanks
