eh seriously 1gbps, why is twitchtv still lagging? :(

Same for me, i no choice am using hotspot shield vpn to watch twitch now. No point have 1 gbps, when cant even get a steady 10mbps from twitch site

This is really screwed up man. I just checked and smooth streaming on source quality from Twitch only requires 400kb/s. That is only 3.2Mbps.

Looks like just because they got their own OpCo, doesn't mean its good at all.

Hello experts and tech support from MyRepublic,
Recently I have issues with MyRepublic default DNS while surfing Facebook. Many pictures are not loading. I did try to change the auto DNS to the MyRepublic DNS 103.11.48.190 and 103.11.48.126, but this did not solve the problem. After changing to Google DNS of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4, the problem has been resolved but my surfing speed is greatly lowered.

I just upgraded to 1gbps ULTRA package few months ago and this problem came after the upgrade. Can MyRepublic technician look into this problem? Also any advice from experts in this forum is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much
Uhh sorry they have disappeared from the forums a while back.

Hmm, when you say that your surfing speed is greatly lowered, is it related to the "Resolving host..." speed (on Chrome)?

Technically, the DNS delay should happen only upon resolving an unresolved hostname. Once you've resolved the hostname the DNS server is no longer involved.

Also, it is possible that 8.8.8.8 resolves your hostnames to servers that are hosted internationally (e.g. USA) so that is why your surfing speeds are down. This is possible but not the most likely reason in my opinion.

Any specific websites that gives you greatly lowered speed?

whenever I load a page, it pauses a while before it loads when i'm using Google dns. On myrepublic default dns, it loads instantly but like I said, some websites and especially Facebook, I've been experiencing problems in loading pictures. For example viewing pictures from an album, some pictures will not load. I also did a check using speedtest. While i'm on Google dns, I can only get 400+mbps. On myrepublic dns, its back to 900+ mbps.

Are you on Automatic IP or Static IP under WAN Connection Type in your router page?

I'm on auto IP setting

Update as of 2/9/2014: connection to Facebook and photo loading is back to normal as of today using myrepublic default dns.

I just re-contract with 1GBps plan with MR during the COMEX. I have not fix any appointment with them yet. After reading so many negative reviews I have decided to terminate the contract. Would I be able to terminate the contract with them now?

I went down to COMEX and filled up the form.

If you want to cancel and haven't fixed appointment date quickly call them up to say you regret. But of course confirm with them if got any charges.

MR. Your billing team is a joke.

July you over-billed me $127 and I chatted with your CSO and received an email acknowledgement that it was a mistake and $127 will be credited to my account to offset bills from August onwards.

This month, August. MR charged $49.99 to my credit card again instead of using the $127 credited to my MR account. I have called your CSO Yan Ling. I hope you guys do something about your billing team.

Dear Team MR,

My ID is C1001114, I have re-contracted to your 1Gbps after my previous contract ended.

I was charged $58 for the activation of the 1Gbps.
I was charged $49 for activation of my Home Voice.

I called up your billing hotline and they confirmed that there is an error as there should not be any activation charges if I re-contract after my previous contract ended.

They told me they will rectify the billing invoices accordingly. This was like 2 weeks ago.
Today, I have yet to see any changes in the billing invoices.

What's going on?

Call them again.

Last time they changed for me within 2 hours, and even called me back to let me know.

Oh well. Just go down to their office and return the ONT. Settle everything there to have a better peace of mind.
