Tried connecting to 5GHZ using iPhone. Test results for the upload is much better than 2.4GHZ but the download is worst.

What gives? If speed is better at upload, why download isn't any better?

Using the Asus RT-56N router

Hi nez. I believe there's something wrong with the test results as it's impossible for download to be at .6mbps. On additional, a iPhone isn't as capable as a laptop on terms of wireless. As such it isn't reliable to use a mobile device to do speed test. A full fledge laptop is required to do so. Hope that clarify.

I'm having problem with Netflix on my Nexus 7 (2013). Netflix is working fine on my PCs and Nexus 7 (2012). When I used it on the new Nexus 7, it gives me a 15001 error. When I tried tunnel bear app on Android (free VPN), Netflix will work. So it is definitely some incompatibility between Teleport and the new Nexus 7. Are you aware that there is such a problem?

It will depend if your house already has the OpenNet Termination point. If no, then there will be 2 appointments. The 1st appointment is by OpenNet to come install the TP, follow by the 2nd appointment for MyRepublic to come install the ONT and router, plus any addon (eg. Home Voice,Static IP).

:D

My house have OpenNet TP i think. Has that box with OpenNet written on it already :p
Hopefully the first appointment will be early next week then by Friday can start going online :p

Thanks for the link but I've read most threads on this Netflix 15001 error before posting. I've the latest Android update and the latest Netflix app but still see the same error. Then I tried tunnel bear VPN app on the same Nexus 7 and it works, so I was thinking it might be something to do with Teleport. However, after working with tunnel bear, Netflix is now working with Teleport too, just hope this last. So, if anyone has problem with Netflix with Teleport, you might want to try another VPN to troubleshoot.

nivleK1985, thanks for the response. I just wanted to know what went wrong.

Also, besides testing the the 5GHz, with the new iPhone 5S in my room, I intend to use 5GHz wifi for the iPhone for obvious reason as well.

This morning I tried again & speed was better as shown on the result. Not sure what was wrong yestaday.
Web surfing was lightning fast as well as compared to 2.4GHz. I could actually felt & see the difference in loading times.

Then can i safely say that i would be getting better speed if i connect my desktop pc to 5GHz (my current adapter not 5GHZ capable), since the iPhone has shown a 2X improvement in speed?

However in the IMGUR app, some images seems very slow to load to a point where some do not even load.

nivleK1985, any advise on this?

Thanks

Don't bother asking the Twitch question. You won't get any answer beyond the standard reply.

At this point, it is downright embarrassing to let this problem ongoing for weeks and no fix in sight.

I'm still having buffering lag issues with streaming video, but I'd like to give credit where it's due. The MR team has been calling me to check for updates and improvements but I don't have improvement reports to give them.

Problem occurs mainly at night, and while they said they can ask an engineer to come down and take a look, I don't know if they meant late at night.

Daytime, it's mostly fine. So I doubt it's due to my "wireless issues" that they keep trying to point at. Daytime, no wireless issues, at night, got wireless issues?

It's possible. At least based on my own experience. Same spot in my house daytime no issues but night time websites won't even load and it happens every night. Reason: There are still some people who actually turn on router only at night, cos in the day my laptop detects around 10, but at night over 20..lol..

Apparently my problem only happens if I am using Channel 6...changed the wireless channel and things start to work normally, maybe u can experiment that yourself.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I also changed the wireless channel as suggested by the tech support.

This is my 3rd router in a month as well.

Its easy to find out whether its MR's network or wireless, just plug in wired and u get the answer.

What router are you using anyway? Maybe upgrading will solve your problems if your area is really congested at night

My laptop has no ethernet port.

I used the engenius that MR gave, RT-56U, and the latest airport extreme.

sounds fine to me, N56U is no sloth. looks like u really need MR to come down to test with wired at night then u can nail the problem

I just got mine installed last Thursday and I find that MR's connection speed to be horrifying. Speedtest.net will show you high bw reading but the surfing experience is really disgusting. I still have my StarHub 10Mbps and I do not suffer slow video-streaming from youtube with it. But with MyRepublic, it's just bad. I can't watch a decent quality (all videos that I tried) without frequent buffering, let alone HD quality. Rebooting doesn't help. I know it's their network cause the minute I switch the connection from MR to StarHub, the surfing experience becomes normal. I don't know, so far to me MR is not the ISP I would recommend to my relatives or peers. I'm sick to the stomach at the moment just thinking I have to endure with this connection for the next 24 months. My expectation can't be blamed as my SH 10Mbps is performing far way better than my MR's connection. Can I terminate the service w/o ETC since installation till date it has been only less than 2 weeks and I am beyond dissatisfied with the entire thing?
