Hi, I managed to get my connection working. However I'm now reading that the Asus RT N15U is not supporting up to 1gbps. I would like to check if this is true, and if so, what alternatives can I get ?
If no AC devices, at least a n66u..

Check that the network adapter is Gigabit Ethernet. ASUS N15U should be able to hit over 100Mbps provided the network adapter is Gigabit Ethernet.

Apart from N66U, you can also consider N56U offered by MR.

N66U has better range with adjustable antennas and 40mhz can be set in 5ghz band as compared to 20ghz only with the n56u..

Good to hear that it works after updated the router firmware version.

Get a switch for wired connection to your wife PC?

For those peeps who are using Asus N15U with firmware 2.1.1.x, go update to latest version 3.x. That should solve most of the issues. I am hitting about 740mbps/475mbps down and up speed respectively.

I am thinking of getting a switch for wired connection to her PC. So it will be
ONT --> Asus N15U --> Switch --> Both my PC and her PC.

Currently it is
ONT --> Asus N15U --> my PC. (she is on wireless)

Any switch to recommend ?

Why don't you go for longer Ethernet cables between the router and both PC since you are going for wired connection?

ONT -> ASUS N15U ----------> Both PC

Yes, N66U has a better WiFi range than N56U but according to SmallNetBuilder website, N56U has a better wired throughput than N66U.

So depends on what Lincoln92 wants.

Besides checking if your PC's NIC supports speeds greater than 100Mbps, are you running stock or custom firmware on your N15U?

I had a similar situation where my Linksys E3000 running a very old version of DD-WRT was capping the speed at 100Mbps. Try by-passing the router with a direct CAT 5e/6 LAN cable from PC to ONT and see if you can get more than 100Mbps.

Aside, tests done on the N15U on this site puts the WAN-LAN throughput with an average of 124Mbps.

Thanks for all your help. After researching I've decided on getting the ac56u from Myrepublic. Can I ask whether will I be able to set up my n15u as a repeater? Sorry, I'm a bit confused about the banding of frequency.

Any MR users experiencing frequent disconnects and very, very slow network problems nowadays? When MR first started i don't have these kind of problems :vijayadmin:

same here. pages take longer to load at times almost like 'no response' kind.

The router is located in the living room and both of the PCs are inside another room. It will be quite unsightly if I were to simply lay longer cables to connect her PC from the router.

There is one RJ port inside the room (I'm using it :p), hence I am thinking of getting a switch to split the wired connection between us.

But I wonder will it result in reduced bandwidth/speed ?

I doubt there is and if yes is also very minimal.

I assume nowadays that wireless devices are more utilized than desktop and laptop PCs though..

finally got my connection back at 10+pm just now since it went down on 11th Jun (Wednesday).

was told by the MR technician that there was something wrong with my profile at the backend side....which resulted in my lack of connection.

got them 7 days to fix that...:\
They could have rectified it a lot faster if they have done the checking earlier as I have already told them about the status of the modem LED (blinking connection).

just to check with you guys.

I am only able to achieve 90+ Mbps for wired connection and around 50+ for wireless connection.

Using AC68U and my laptop network card supports 1Gb.

For 1Gb users, what modem are you using? Huawei? or alcatel-lucent?

Any advices?

Thanks.

Sounds like what I'm getting on my 100mbps plan with N56U... Maybe they haven't got your "profile" correct yet...

Finally got billed by MyRepublic after 2.5 months. Am on 1Gbps plan and got it installed on 1/4.

A pleasant surprise that the $49.99 is the net price you pay. Meaning already inclusive of GST. Not sure about traffic light isp but my phone plan with singtel always have to pay another 7% GST on top of the plan price. So this means a bit more Davina with MyRepublic.

The ONT for 1Gbps plan is Alcatel-Lucent.

The $49.99/month is already inclusive of GST as mentioned by one of MR staff previously.
