Interesting. Lets hope Singnet does not decide to go that way as well then. Fairly good way to lock down people hosting internet facing servers though.

Thanks for the info.

So back to the original question....

Who is getting close to 1Gbps speeds and what hardware are you using (nic and router) ?. Would love to hear as the guy from MR had been suggesting it is the NIC (Killer / Intel / Laptop) that was giving slow speeds and not the line.

Thanks

I am getting around 920+Mbps local download speed (not sure if that is close enough in your context) using Intel network adapter and ASUS AC56U router via wired connection.

I am using the killer NIC as well and I can hit 9xxmbps with no problem using MR hosted speedtest.

For the Killer NIC, do make sure the bandwidth control is set to off.
This option is hidden under the "Network" Option of the Killer Manager or set to a value thats is the same or higher than MR values. ie downstream 1000mbps and upstream 500mbps. I suspect that the killer manager had tested your previous singtel speed and had fixed the bandwidth to that of your Singtel 300mbps speed.

Thanks to both of you.

Good point Misato. Will take a look. The 300Mbps would seem to point that way and maybe it is interfering with the Intel nic I put in afterwards.

My max local speed is 990Mbps down and 490Mbps up.

Hardware: AC68U latest 5656 firmware with direct GB connection.

However, with current router technology, AC 5Ghz is currently limited by Intel AC7260 HMW card and 5Ghz wireless bridge capped at 1300Mbps/2 = 650Mbps

By default for MR.. if your not on static IP then you will not have a public reachable IP address. Without a public reachable IP, DDNS cannot work and that also means no way for you to remote back to your home network for various purpose like viewing your IP Camera, etc..

There 2 solution for MR, one is apply for their static IP plan(not sure if they got sufficient IP to release a not) or wait for MR to migrate to IPv6 (which is not happening and might not be for a while from what I see given their interests on the topic).

You can still teamviewer back to your house pc to view whatever inside the local network mah.. :p

Just checked, static IP only cost $50 one-time installation so nvm, I'll just get it and forget about DDNS.

I am thinking of adding static ip too as cost is not much... but sometimes it is still better to stay dynamic :p

Static ip for myrepublic not only give u a fix ip, it also give u a PUBLIC IP.

Without myrepublic static ip, u will only have dynamic PRIVATE IP.
