Highly doubt you can blame a provider for wireless speeds.... How is it on cable? Could be that your area became more congested since the last time you configured the channel :o

wireless is getting worse for me also. Using ESR9850 and route placed in my room. Now I cannot even surf on my phone when I am in the living room (which is beside my room)

Did a scan that day with my laptop, in my room can detect 33 other wireless networks. Last year it was 16. :s22:

What's with finishing my contract then talk?

I am a paying customer and I have the rights to deserve when the service I sign up for does not meet its advertised specifications.

Jump ship loh.
Nobody stop you.
Viewqwest is very good, but are you willing to pay for the superb service ?
You know how much they charge for 1Gbps or not ??? :s13::s13::s13::s13::s13::s13:
In case you don't know, click it ViewQwest Pte Ltd

Sometimes ICMP packets are de-prioritized or nodes do not respond to ICMP echo request. It looks like SingNet's website and MyRepublic's do not respond to these sites.

You may wish to try pinging SingTel: Personal and Business Mobile Phones, Broadband and Telecommuncations | SingTel though since that seems to work?
Code:
Pinging www.singtel.com [203.126.100.199] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 203.126.100.199: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=246
Reply from 203.126.100.199: bytes=32 time=26ms TTL=246
Reply from 203.126.100.199: bytes=32 time=18ms TTL=246
Reply from 203.126.100.199: bytes=32 time=32ms TTL=246

Ping statistics for 203.126.100.199:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 17ms, Maximum = 32ms, Average = 23ms

Can I understand what you're trying to achieve though?

I want solution to my lousy 1gbps, pages need to be refresh to load....

MR is not solving my problem!

that is why I am searching the whole place to see what is wrong...

This is new to me as i did not know that ISPs are not accountable for poor wifi speed. My setup is not fantastic (dual band router, and 5ghz wifi adapter , room less than 5m away with only 1 wall in between) but ive been using the same setup through 2 different iSPS and even though when previously i was on orange 100mbps, buffering and streaming was not as choppy as MR.
Enlighten me on the definition of congested please:)? More MR users in the area ? More users in the wifi network? ( P.s i'm currently the only wifi user in my network)Either way, isn't an ISP suppose to improve the network infrastructure/stability of their speed as the number of users in "an area" grow? Maybe im asking too much since i've not seen such a drop in quality of standards from an internet provider for a long time

Btw i've done a speedtest via cable as well..doesn't seem much of a difference.

u guys can ping

www.singnet.com.sg

MyRepublic | 1Gbps - The World

?

I ask the tech, he keep quiet

still got problem ah!!!!! still got sometimes, lousy connection (WIRED!)

now even put FAN on RT-N56U router......

Hi
Have you tried to isolate the cause of your poor surfing experience with
1. Getting a new cat 6 cable
2. Connecting your computer directly to the ont with 1.
3. Doing 2 with a another computer if the results is still the same.

I still remember getting suboptimal speed test results with mr 100mbps plan years ago and only discovered the fault lies with my old cat 5e cable after going through the steps above. Maybe you can try also. ;). It important to take the router out of the equation to really see whether it's the internet connection or router that is slowing you down.

hi,

do take a look here to see why no isp is able to guarantee wireless speed

for your bad lan speed, maybe you can try my earlier post

used to get 70+80 on wifi -pure plan, then 30-40mbps on good days ,now really cmi....this whole evening youtube and other video sites keep on lagging.. good job MR :s22: cant wait for my contract to be over :(

wireless congestion could be the cause as more users install high powered wifi routers.
try searching for channels with lesser ssids, and also change the default DTIM Interval from 3 to 1 if you are using ASUS. It helps for my super wifi congested neighbourhood as well.

I also noticed disabling all the beamforming stuffs helps as well.

tracert www.google.com.sg

I'm thinking could it be the DHCP.
The lease was 1 hour, maybe the renewing failed, and the router had to keep retrying.

MyRepublic can try increase lease time to 24 hours see how? If connection nothing wrong for 24 hours, means it's DHCP problem.

I done tracert www.google.com.sg 3 times.

I got Request time out on the 2nd and 7th hops for the first 2 times but the 3rd hop appears in less than 15s.

The tracert for 3rd time seems fine.

I am upgrade... so... technically all this should not happen

I dont care much about the speed, cos there is bound to be bottleneck somewhere

I want quality connection

when is good, is good..... when is bad, is bad, INTERMITTENT PROBLEM !!! WORST ENEMY

GIVE ME back my 100mbs , I gladly take it back

When I first posting my finding and chasing MR for it, many chose to be oblivious about it while resellers and bootlickers go on claiming "the network is fine, stop complaining man!" Now we'll see how long before the storm comes before someone steps in to say yes we're aware of it and will be doing a thorough check from the back-end.

Bro, i feel your pain. It's really a pain when your internet connection is unstable.

1. If i am you, i will try the steps listed above as it's the first step to really see what is bugging your connection.

2. In the computer world, never say never as my experience tells me that it's only a matter of when.

3. Things like firmware updates could screw up your router or computer especially if you are using non apple hardware (apple fan here :D).

4.. if it's MR's fault, do complain all the way to Case, CEO of MR etc but you must first identify the root cause. That's what i did to finally convince myself to pay myself out of starhub contract before subscribing to MR.

5.My take on MR is if you want to subscribe to them, you gotta be prepared to do a bit of troubleshooting yourself as it's very difficult to get their support personnel unless you are lucky or very patient.

Cheers :)

I'm not a networking engineer but I am more than savvy enough to know if my equipment is failing and have certainly done a fair share of troubleshooting on my end before coming on to the forum to complain about it.

This spike problem certainly doesn't 'affect every users of MR but a reasonable portion of it" since at the same time people started coming on to post of lag spikes and unresponsive page loading time and I being one of them.

Seeing how the forum assistance have turned to nothing, I'm not hoping that anyone will be able to jump in with a resolution but more or less to share it with MR users themselves and if anyone is having the same issue, call MR up and make them see that there is a problem and it is not just you alone.

Mr Justin one of the weekend supervisor of MR have already promised me and personally updated me since a good talk with him on a saturday night that they are looking into it from the back-end and I'll probably get another update on this coming Wednesday.

PS: I'm gonna dig out the old TP-LINK 1043ND once I can find it in the storeroom to do more test just to prove to some people that have a million and one reason to disprove someone's issue but I am pretty damn certain MR needs to fix something back there.

And if anyone need my system specs it is in my signature and no I'm not smirking but just to lighten the mood of this post, the specs is more than enough to wet a gaming geek.
