Subj. After sitting >2 years on Starhub's 30mbit cable plan.

Let me outline what I am looking for: I need stabile connection - this is must. Also, I do a lot of remote support for our company's sites located in States and Europe so stability, once again matters. I will also need teleport to be able to access number of resources as well.

I have couple of questions:

- What MR is any better than ViewQuest? (I am not considering Singtel/Starhub/M1)

- Router: what are principal differences between N56U and AC56U? I have 3br apartment and need to be able to cover it.

- Should I go with MR directly or with resellers?

- Is there any promotions currently in place? I am quite price sensitive.

Anything else - any suggestions/options/recommendations?

P.S. I have FIN/EP - would it be a problem?

I am using MR but do go for VQ if you require stability and especially when you need it for work.

I would suggest to go for VQ if stability is a must for you.

Are you using wired or wireless connection within your apartment?

AC56U is better for WiFi as compared to N56U. Not much difference for wired connection.

Router: If u have any devices that uses AC, do go for AC56U or even AC66U/68U since those with external antennas would work better than built-in antennas in AC56U. you can even change the antennas for those high gain antennas.

If price sensitive, then should look at M1 liao... Although MR is competitive, but the service isnt what it was 2 years ago, sad to say. VQ is slightly mroe ex, but i believe it will give more value. Awaiting for contract to end so that can jump over.

First encounter for 2 years and you're saying the service is getting worse? My goodness, you are one demanding customer.

I can empathize with the others who are experiencing repetitive problems, but I think sometimes we need to take a step back and keep things in perspective. I have used SingNet and Starhub before and compared to them MR is way much better.

Nevertheless, I acknowledge there are issues on and off with my connectivity, but I attribute it to growing pains. I hope everybody doesn't get too worked up if you cannot do WoW/LoL for one night, because seriously there are other things you can do to while away your time.

Do they offer something like the Teleport?

Could you describe in a sentence or two value of VQ? Again - do they offer something like Teleport which does not require establishing VPN connection on client side?

M1 has no teleport-like services.At least for now.

VQ does has teleport like services, its called FreedomVPN on their end.

For more details refer to Freedom VPN | ViewQwest Pte Ltd

MyRepublic Support is getting worse... no email notifications sent to alert that they had reply to a ticket. On top of it, they happily resolve the ticket whenever they did a reply. Really don't care liao....

Personally I hate the fact that MR mentioned that testing with speedtest.net other servers other than MR own speedtest is sufficient.

If only use MR speedtest. I would never have known that statistics for my bandwidth. MR's reply can put down speedtest.net quality during peak hour testing, but should also provide an alternative.

If purely using speedtest.myrepublic.com.sg everything is great great great. Too bad our experiences doesn't show so.

By the way it's 10.20pm

MR speedtest results:
DL = 772.19mbps
UL = 423.12mbps

Speedtest.net Tenlin results
DL = 219.49mbps
UL = 430.52mbps

Speedtest.net VQ results
DL = 292.18mbps
UL = 421.17mbps

**Take note all these results are connected directly to my router. (MR do not ask me to connect to ONT directly! - because MRspeedtest shows "wonderful" statistics already)

hi i'm getting worse results then u.

MR shows
Download Speed: 809481 kbps (101185.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 447804 kbps (55975.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 2 ms
Jitter: 1 ms
10/16/2014 10:20:01 PM

my speedtest.net shows
Speedtest.net by Ookla - My Results

my downloads from uploaded.to/uptobox are going at around 100-200 kb/s compared to the usual 1-2mb/s during offpeak hours.

MR keeps insisting that nth is wrong based on their test but tbh... like wad one of ur guys tell me. Speedtest not = everything. Its the surfing experience.

Here's my experience.

"wtf my videos are not loading"
"eh my dwl why suddenly so slow"

Will be waiting for ur replies on forums / fb considering how no one actually picks up the phone =)

Their 1gbps plan oversubscribed already, the diagram below can roughly illustrate their over-subscription.

Luckily I look at my wifi scanner, I see the routers they using, I know my area are mostly subscribed to singtel.

Just noted the BT speed when pass the golden 100mbps aka 12.8MB/s speed just now on just a single very extremely well seeded torrent. It hit around 18Mb/s when the download completed. Not bad for a start compared to the previous less than 12.8MB/s thou I am not really complaining here.
