I think MR is performing quite badly during peak hours. YouTube is significantly slow when skipping on the 4K videos.

I had been thinking of switching too, but MR is one of the few ISP that offers ONT out of the box, no need to fight with the sales rep or finding the admin password to bridge the ONR.
Doesn't ViewQuest also only provide ONT + Router? They also do have decent pings to servers (for gamers). 3Gbps+ plan from MR sounds very enticing though.

I remember VQ used to offer ONR by default and need to request to bridge specifically.

But it seems the Multi-Gig plans come with ONT by default, according to this blog post dated late July 2024: https://ashleytan.wordpress.com/2024/07/26/initial-use-of-viewqwest-3gbps/

But their own image shows something else totally:

VQ new 3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps come with bridged ONR by default. You can treat the bridged ONR to be the same as an ONT.

On the other hand, based on the latest report from the VQ thread, VQ allows the user to choose to go for router mode of the ONR (unbridged) upon request. There are some users who prefer to use unbridged ONR, eg, to save one router in the DB box.

Oh that's good to know, now I can put VQ in my list for my next BB contract

MR getting bad to worse. Been with them so many years now also considering swapping to VQ. Gaming around 10pm makes me want to vomit blood.

1. introduce 10G plan
2. throttling needed at peak hour
3. throttling affects everybody including gamers
4. effectively degrading all current services for future use cases
5. user has to live with the degraded service for up to 2 years

On MR 1Gbps plan, connection quality seems to be worse in the past few months.

Poor connectivity during peak hours, to typical sites such as Youtube and Reddit.
Constantly being asked to restart the ONT to verify if it restore connectivity.
Connectivity with the Internet usually restored by connecting to VPN or just tether to mobile data.

I'm thinking of switching to WC 2.5Gbps or VQ 3Gbps when my plan ends in Nov this year. Doubt it can get worse than MR.

MR/SH: Don't be so smart expose our plan so soon leh:cautious:

Anyway i think SH is having a hard time to differentiate itself from MR as well, the educated consumers would just think the two are the same.

I think the strategy is to slowly phasing out the MR brand and only the SH brand will exist, say in 2 years time.

Next time MR gamer plan will be called SH gamer plan.

As one of the earlier adopters of their broadband services (since 100mbps fiber days), I just feel so sad as it really feel like SH is trying to sabo them.

@Lawzer by some miracle you saw this message, please rethink your whole broadband services business strategy.

For weeks and maybe months, experiencing so much packet loss playing Warzone. Afternoon still okay, at night 8pm onwards, 3 to 12% packet loss.

Then my wired connection can just drop connection making me d/c from ranked matches. so tilting.

I am on their old-school 1Gbps and is their customer since their birth. Recently I thought of upgrading to GAMER plan might solve the packet loss issue. But I ask other forums, GAMER users also experience same issue. So thankfully I didn't rush to upgrade.

Contract will end Feb 2025. Then maybe is time to switch already. :(

MR keeps renew my ip address. 1 day 2-3 times. Is that the reason for the disconnection?

It's funny that SH has bad rep in the days of cable. But back then ST was not much better either due to how ADSL work.

20 years later with fiber and we are still talking about how bad SH is, and this bad egg has absorbed a good egg and made the market worse.
