If you are in an area where there are no 5G signal, there’s no 4G to fall back on?

It is not that. It is the transition from 5G to 4G in some areas and you get cut off with limited data.

In other words, the transition is not seamless on StarHub.

For Gomo, the transition is not totally seamless but better than StarHub.

Because if you want me to pay for 5G but not usable much, I rather go for 4G, be it StarHub or SingTel MNO or MVNO ir their own digital brand like Gomo or Giga.

$20 for MR using SH network is ok provided you need that 100GB.

I sign up Redone for my wife at $18 and we have 25GB data to use in Malaysia.

hotlink prepaid is 75rm for 1 year use with 20gb data cheaper than redone.. i have redone as well and it is convenient too just a comparison. MYR 5g standard plan $17.90 with 80gb data and free 1gb in malaysia for 6mth

imo MR 5G plan’s biggest draw is eSIM on Starhub, not the 5G network access.

The eSIM draw is kind of pointless to me if MR itself is more cui than SH direct or RedOne or other MNVO on SH network.

Looking at the current situation, it seems that the 5G is still cui and not sure if 4G is even near that what SH direct can offer.

It seems like there is a misunderstanding about the eSIM for MR.

Many iPhone users are experiencing difficulties because the device only supports a second SIM through eSIM. Currently, the only option available is M1, but their network coverage is poor.

Therefore, having an eSIM with MR, Starhub, despite poor 5G coverage, is still considered a better option than relying on M1's 4G network.

Alternatively, can just treat it as a 4G eSIM on StarHub for 80GB $17.95.

I actually bought a iPhone 13 Pro HK dual sim from one of the shops.

if I am paying $1500++ for a top end phone, I would personally like to use the best possible network.

On the flip side, I cannot buy eSIM for the HK iPhone.

Yup this is very true. Sometimes the 5G gets stuck and the Internet connection just goes to crap.

Tempted to keep it on perma 4G but then again that defeats the purpose of using this plan....

Can someone on MR 5G using the latest iOS and a recent iphone please post a screenshot of their Settings->Mobile Data->Voice & Data screen please?

Is it the same as mine? Mine says "4G" instead of "LTE" and there's no "VoLTE" option.

  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Cellular.
  • Ensure the Cellular Data switch is in the “on” position.
  • Tap Cellular Data Options.
  • Tap Voice & Data.

SingTel, StarHub and M1 on recent phones all has set to VoLTE on in the carrier bundle by default. So as long as you're in Singapore, you won't see the option.

4G instead of LTE. I suppose you came from SIMBA/TPG. It's the same.

Whether the plan bundle includes VoLTE access, that's not iOS control alr.

Thanks for the informative post.

Yes, came from TPG where it was showing "LTE" instead of 4G. Also, in TPG, the volte option was shown, so I thought it's something I needed to toggle in MR also.
