just switched. why? i've been switching service providers here and there in the last few mths. lol.

honestly, giga network is not bad imo, but their app sux.

May I know why you feel the app sucks ? From registration, to changing plans to monitoring data usage, it has worked well for me.

agree that the app sux. Registering to port over with the app, the second line that I wanted to port to giga failed, it keeps says "hihi please use another ID".

CSO said it is because I use another email address account under the same NRIC to port over the line. Hence, must use back the other email account which I previously successfully ported a line over. I gave up on that, tried more than 50 times to capture NRIC and still failed.

Shall try other line port over to MyRepublic instead.

MyRepublic asked for deposit when registering for their plan? and they only refund after terminating the line? If we don't terminate, they dont return?

The rest encounter this too?

I don't know that's why I'm asking. Only have experience with st, m1, cl and giga.

Edit: saw your updated post. That's not a fault with app. I encountered the same thing with circles. Maybe it's a mvno thing, a way for them to keep track of registration.

MyRepublic uses M1 infrastructure for it’s new mobile plan with VoLTE

extracted from Ocworkbench

Our reader feedback to us that he discovered better speed with this new plan and VoLTE is enabled after porting into MyRepubilc. Initially, he thought it could be a configuration issue. A network reset and reconfiguration of the profiles were done to confirm the suspicion. Yes VoLTE works.

Indeed, for plans sign up after 31 March 2020, MyRepublic MVNO newer plans will run on M1 infrastructure and it provides VoLTE support. The old plans will continue to ride on Starhub’s infrastructure.

MyRepublic sudden switch tells us that something might happen in the future for the MVNOs. Will they all start to support VoLTE after Circles.Life and now MyRepublic.

The image is cropped from Network Cell Info which shows that MyRepublic is indeed using M1’s infrastructure. It can be seen that the MCC/MNC code is 525-03 which is M1.

If you are local or pr and without bad debts with other telco, you will not need any deposit.

If you aint local, let say student from malaysian, u will need a deposit of $50 or $100.

We may ask for a guarantee deposit from our soon-to-be customers depending on the outcome of our credit verification measures.

Don't worry, this guarantee deposit will be refunded to you after you terminate your service with us. Refund will take around 4 to 6 weeks to process.

i felt that this in unfair. if i never terminate MR mobile plan, does it mean MyRepublic will never return the deposit?
also none of any other telcos have this policy.

it also indicates "may" instead of "will" so it means not all users will be requested to pay deposit.

local, no bad debts with telcos, bank or any others i can think of, have full paid up assets like property etc. so this should not be the case right?

really can't understand nor have a logical reason for it in this case.

MR is not the only MVNO in SG. So if it requests for something which we as the customer feels unreasonable, we can always bring our business elsewhere.

that's true, but before doing so, at the very least, I need to know what are the determining factors for such case, hence seeking clarity.

You urself can only know if u own any Telco company (now or before). MVNO won't know ur issue, you will need to walk into all the 3 telcos to check if u have any outstanding issues.

MVNO will need to check ur past records in a telco system that customer got blacklisted for signing line and went MIA. Be it with phone or without phone (SIM ONLY).

good point. all the years had only been with SingTel. had mobile plans and home fibre broadband, clear bills monthly, no debts no bad records no outstanding or whatsoever.

besides, before a customer gets blacklisted, surely telco will notify in advance to resolve issues.

You apply to use a paid service. MR can refuse to allow you on board even if you have money. Now MR said they can do business with you, provided you put up a deposit.

Ultimately, if you are good with payment along the way, you can write in to ask to review the need for deposit
