anyone using MR 5G (starhub), may i ask what happens if you're not in the area of the 5G Standalone coverage area? Does it go 4G at all, if so do you know if its starhub's 4G or M1's 4G network?

thinking to port in from zym.sg appreciate any replies

Whether 5G or 4G, it will be on Starhub platform.
Before porting over, it would be advisable to check with its phone compatability list with MYR 5G, else any issues encountered the staff will simply refers as incompatability device.

Yes thank you for the heads up! I read the past pages of some esim activation headaches. I’m on ip15pm. Should be fine. I’ll double check just in case too! Cheers and good day!

Fall back to StarHub 4G, but please note you will see a quite significant downgrade from ZYM (Singtel network) regarding the coverage and download/upload speed.

Oh man really ah? Thanks for the heads up. I was hoping it’s better as I would like to hop on esim. I’m getting a bit poor speed during peak hours with Zym. Sometimes 5G only clocking 10-20mbps down on Speedtest. There were times with single digit download speed. Using ip15PM - only test speed with full reception bars

Interesting to hear that 5G speed also significantly throttled during peak hours. I guess Singtel network is truly overloaded, even with 5G. 4G network was already super congested from my experience.

yeah, i never had this issue previously with gomo's 5g(max at 900+mbps). zym is quite value for its bundled and not that its unusable. its just that im picky. I will jump to MR mobile to try on its next esim promo!

Honestly Zym is as good as it gets, and I am confident it will outperform Starhub/M1 or their MNVOs which may cost more for 5G access, unless ST really is that much more overpopulated and throttles a lot more than the other 2 in congested peak hours.
I only switched out because I could not make or receive calls at home, suspecting my area is a 3G deadspot for ST network.
If they ever introduce VoLTE, i'll port right back in.

You can use code to check on iphone whether is connected to NR/NSA/LTE/UTMS.

I had issue connecting to NR but was automatically solve after the telco had an outrage for 1/2 a day. Before the outrage, calling them many times and changing SIM card doesnt resolve the issue.

are you sure you using 5G? sometimes i see 5G icon but phone actually using 4G. on samsung the 5G icon doesn't have the white background, means its using 4G but showing 5G. on iphone no way to tell. I did a speed test, sure enough i was getting 4G speeds. Why is it like this i really don't know.

Confirm chop. I’m using iPhone 15 pro max for speed test, sometimes I toggle the 5G on and off too. If it’s results are bad I even airplane mode toggle or kill all apps reboot phone. Also I always make sure it’s full reception bar before I bother doing any speed test at all. Sometimes I even raise the phone in the air to speed test avoiding all crowd human obstacles haha

For my experience on MR 5G (both eSIM and normal SIM), on iPhone 13 mini
Outdoor most area can get 5G SA. Speed will be from 300M to 1200M.
But, for same location, it is possible that today can connect to 5G, next day cannot, then later can. I suspect that MR is a bit de-prioritized by SH, and sometimes do not allow MR to use 5G at certain locations.
For indoors, I would say 1/3 of the time 5G SA, 1/3 5G NSA (on band 1), 1/3 of the time LTE. Speed all above 100M.
Overall very good

Understand that at Comex and IT Show, the MyR 5G standard plan of 90GB is now offered at $14.95 p/mth instead of $17.95 p/mth previously.
This offer seems like it is not advertised on media and not even on FB.
Care to confirm for those who had visited the Comex Fair?, TIA. (y)

That is correct, it is only available at the tech show.
And $14.95 is only for first 3 months and will be $17.95 afterwards.
