I started with $8/month for my backup phone but the data limits are very low.
I upgraded to $10/month for more data.
Same i still holding onto this old $8/mo plan with upsize to $10/mo for 12GB data as secondary line , somemore have 1000 mins call and sms. feel sayang to let go o_O

Edit: my bad, i rechecked its 2gb data + unlimited data (throttled), not sure why in my billing they indicate 10GB add on

This backup phone line with physical sim is critical. For phone with esim, when the phone dies, the esim also dies with it.

Anyone knows if I can port out of MyRepublic from my $8 legacy plan to eight Telco which uses starhub network? It says keeps failing due to number being prepaid. But MyRepublic chat support told me all numbers of MyRepublic is postpaid. But they don't release the number?

Does anyone have any info on this?

If MR cleared it to be postpaid, there shouldn't be any reason that its failing.
Perhaps provide info from "Eight" that its showing up as "Prepaid" to MR for them to check and rectify/clarify?

I personally see no problem with this. MR is postpaid.

Is it if our phone doesn't support the VoLTE that is supported by MyRepublic... we have to install the MyRepublic Talk App? Do we need to pay extra in order use this app to make/receive calls?

Works similar to Skype or WhatsApp calls, although I'm not sure if data is deducted from monthly bundle. I will leave it actual users to comment on this.

Chargeable for roaming,

Helping my parents's elderly friend to port out of MR, not too sure what plan they use, LOL. I only know they paying $10.17 or something. Tried to port out, but was told that the mobile number is registered under Corporate BRN/Prepaid Plan. 😅

I am guessing it's a sub line isit ? Can't find anyinfo of BRN for MR tho, others telco said it's a sub line.

Just to bring up for awareness.

Few days ago, i have successfully ported out my number from myrepublic but til today, my number is still active when i look at myrepublic app.

Therefore, i contacted myrepublic customer service officer to verify with them and she also surprised that how come my line was still active!

I have requested for my line termination at their end in three working days as suggested by the customer service officer.

Just imagine if i did not contact them, i might gets charge for another month subscription again since my next billing was on 4 Sep 2024.

Therefore, i would like to alert everyone to check and confirm that your ported out number was indeed inactive at their end with myrepublic next time.

Just for sharing. 😃

but during this time, were your line also active on your new telco? And is the line still the same number on both telco?

new telco! yes! i tried to call my other hp number to confirm.

myrepublic, also same! but the signal has stopped after the porting was successful. Strange thing is, the number should be inactive at myrepublic anyway. I can still login to myrepublic app and see my number still active now.

Careful with the line termination. Should let them investigate.

I was just afraid if there was a port-out issue where if you terminate your line, your entire number gets terminated on both sides.

@stephen30 , I was a victim of MyRepublic and GOMO active on the same number. Of course the logical way is to terminate the number that was ported-out. But I was advised by CSO not to do so and let the investigate and clear it up rather than manually terminating. They are afraid of complete loss on both telco.

pretty weird. sounds like the issue that faced by our Harry Porter. Zym and Simba both active. end up have to go down service center (Zym) to resolve it

Strange that the same number can be active on the two different networks and operators.
Porting mobile line to another telco should be pretty common these days, quite baffling to see this kind of issue.

Looks like it is something only IMDA can clean up so operators can no longer be so sloppy and inconvenienced consumers.
