Ta, u make mistake. Why u go report whereby there is not 3rd party claim. U should continue to rent and bring to outside spray shop to repair the dent.

Now u signed the contract and hence at their mercy already. Just like taxi u accident straight deduct 2k. For that dent now they can say they import a new bumper from france and have to respray the same colour, need to do alignment, service check if the car is in good condition plus u must compensate them 2 to 3 weeks of rental cos cannot rent to others. Easily exceed 5.5k the excess u mentioned.

U too simple minded la. If go court, they will breakdown the cost for the judge to see. U wun go jail but the company if guai lan can sue you bankruptcy.

Thanks for the advice.

Civil case wun go jail la. Bankruptcy only. Slowly pay back only.

Normally they will avoid and try to do a settlement with u. My advice pay 5.5k and close this case. Black and white how u going to win them. A expensive lesson for you to drive carefully. Luckily no one is injured else need to attend court, get fine and disqualification for months

Dun worry, Money can earn back. rest early. Suing you is their last resort. They wun do it, now they kept pestering you to come down and pay the 5.5k.

FYI, I also borrowed from company before. Also paying back monthly instalment

I find this lack of emphathy from such companies disappointing. Govt & MAS introduced a slew of assistance measures even mandating banks to help their customers. But such companies do not wan to help their customers & use such tactics to profit. TS make it big, hopefully this might make them see reason.

Thanks for the loyal customer support, especially those who paid hefty excesses, and the government support, LTA & EDB, given to BlueSG.

BlueSG reaches its one millionth rental

Electric-car sharing service BlueSG has hit one million vehicle rentals since the programme started in 2017.

BlueSG now has around 80,000 subscribers paying from $8 a month to use one of its 667 Bluecars, it said yesterday.

The firm is supported by the Land Transport Authority and the Economic Development Board.

Despite a dip in membership and rentals during the circuit breaker period, BlueSG recorded strong growth after Singapore's reopening from June 2, the company said.

The 667 cars in its fleet are rented about 100,000 times a month with 4,000 subscriptions added every month, said BlueSG managing director Franck Vitte.

He added that surveys show that its users are renting cars occasionally, as a complement to public transport, which was the initial objective.

The firm launched two new subscription plans last December which have been successful.

One is a premium six-month membership plan at $18 a month with 45 minutes of monthly free use and a basic membership at $8 a month. Both plans have a rental rate of 33 cents a minute.

BlueSG has other rental packages for longer rides at cheaper rates - a three-hour deal at $39.90 and a five-hour one at $49.90.

It has 345 charging stations with 1,371 charging points islandwide in public housing estates, industrial buildings, shopping malls, Changi Airport, Sentosa and the city centre.

There are 239 charging points across 60 stations open to electric-vehicle owners at a one-time fee of $20. These cost $1 an hour for the first three hours and then $2 an hour.

“With a significant number of stations located in popular and convenient locations, BlueSG has now become a credible alternative to private car ownership," said Mr Vitte.

Most Drivers should know rental companies charge a much higher excess than normal insurance policies. People assume renting is cheap that’s because it’s a perfect situation where nothing happens. When something happens, this $5k is easily the cost of 1 year of car ownership.

In Singapore, individuals or creditors can file bankruptcy applications if a person is unable to repay debts of at least $15,000.
Even debt collector will refuse to collect debts of this amount because it is too little.

You should be 32 years old and have some saving. Go read the contract if they state $5k access is payable regardless of repair damages. Whether interest will be charge if owe them $$$.

Either pay the $5k and clear your headache. Or just wait and delay by arguing you want to see the repair cost breakdown first etc.

They cant do much to you anyway if you can’t pay.

It should be most driver don’t bother to read the contract they signed and understand the excess amount. They only find out the excess they need to pay when they have accident.
No one to blame except themselves. If one knows they have to pay $5k excess, I doubt any reasonable mind and risk adverse person will rent.

A lot of company do offer low excess or zero excess if you pay extra.
