In Singapore, individuals or creditors can file bankruptcy applications if a person is unable to repay debts of at least $15,000.
Even debt collector will refuse to collect debts of this amount because it is too little.

You should be 32 years old and have some saving. Go read the contract if they state $5k access is payable regardless of repair damages. Whether interest will be charge if owe them $$$.

Either pay the $5k and clear your headache. Or just wait and delay by arguing you want to see the repair cost breakdown first etc.

They cant do much to you anyway if you can’t pay.

To be honest I don't have enough money to pay them. Talk to them on phone and email them to negotiate and gave me instalment plan or other options. They refuse and want me asap now they suspended my account and may want sue me.

I have no option but to die.

It should be most driver don’t bother to read the contract they signed and understand the excess amount. They only find out the excess they need to pay when they have accident.
No one to blame except themselves. If one knows they have to pay $5k excess, I doubt any reasonable mind and risk adverse person will rent.

A lot of company do offer low excess or zero excess if you pay extra.

I do read the t&c maybe is my understanding wasn't good enough.

Wait for them to send you LOD and writ. Make sure you have black & white of you offering to pay installment and them rejecting outright.
Then tell them "I offer installment you reject, wtf you want me to do?"

Or go find MP, or take a personal loan from bank to settle this.

Many solutions one lah, no need to worry too much.

Wow you should have waiting till you have 2 years exp and at least 27 years old then only it'll be 2k..the excess is 5k for new drivers.

Excess of $5k only applicable if the damages are beyond 5k(youll be surprise how much it would cost to replace a bumper) if not you'll just pay the repair cost. Try to call them and say you can't afford to pay the excess and if there's an alternative

To pay $5k for a minor damage is ridiculous

Over 5k sue you. The lawyer fee also not worth it. Take ur case to MP n media if what u said is true.. write email to all e relevant parties n cc them inside..

If e company dun even wan instalment over this then they r risking their own reputation

I find this lack of emphathy from such companies disappointing. Govt & MAS introduced a slew of assistance measures even mandating banks to help their customers. But such companies do not wan to help their customers & use such tactics to profit. TS make it big, hopefully this might make them see reason.

Actually this is a loophole. But since the insurer want to make big bucks from it. What to do? They are out to punish the person who get into accident and make them drive careful the next time they might risk themselves into accident.

Just wait for loa, I think they might charge u interest fee monthly if u do not pay and wait for the charges to roll up to 10k. Assuming 5.5k charges u 5% per annum. Mean 275 interest every year.

If go court lose case need to pay 5.5k plus the other party's legal costs, may possibly exceed 15k already.

If bluesg really want to guai lan and go court with ts. What ts already say he want to pay installment, he can tell the judge. Judge will ask him to loan from bank, company or family member to settle the dispute.

If newspaper interview bluesg, they will said all comply to rules and regulations. They adhere to the procedure
