Do we always need to follow the practices of other countries?
Every country developed according to its unique situation…

Assuming there is advance warning giving you extra 7mins and you are at the Giyrong border. The decision that you make will make a difference.

A) If you panic and decide to drive downhill, it is likely a GG decision. The flash flood was coming down at speed of apprx 150-180 kph. I dont think you will be able to drive very far off in a winding valley road in that 7mins. From google map, the downhill road are just next to the river banks. The flash flood will just catch up soon and you will just go down together with the flood.

B) if you decide to drive uphill direction (the video whereby the bus port building that was flash away). As per the video below, it say the flash flood went uphill for around 2.4km. So if you drive fast enough in that 7mins, maybe you might survive.

China show a before and after video of the Giyrong border immigration building. Looks like the building is gone.

Think go to higher ground practical sense should be abandon all transports and climb the hill slope as fast as possible. Take the shortest and fastest way to higher ground, to gain as much height in the shortest of time.

Probably not wise to take the road also. For water take the easier path that is the road downhill. Hard to outrun the water also. And the road likely would be choked also, by other vehicles trying to escape the same.

Saw one of the video few vehicles trying to escape from riverside, at the T-intersection where the road turn uphill and downhill, the first vehicle took the uphill route only to almost immediately face the full force of the flood few seconds later.

The other vehicles behind saw the first vehicle turned uphill at first stopped and hesistated, thinking whether to follow or not. By the time the first vehicle realised the mistake saw the water coming and try to back out, it was already too late, as the rest of the vehicles behind blocked the path liao. Think end up all went under the water.

As for the border, abit confused what was CN side thinking. For the initial video showed the people scrambling to safety before the flood hit. Meaning they knew of the incoming (not sure how much time they have as the video started only from the 30s mark before the flood hit and the people were already running then).

So, can't helped wonder how much or any warning have they gave to the rest upstream or downstream before being hit by the full force of the mud and debris flood.

Anyway, think CN most of the casualties would be at the border and the immediate area surrounding the border. The border was at the T-intersection where the flood go uphill is CN, downhill is NP. The force of the water might have force some water uphill to CN side, but most of it still would go downhill to NP.

Think at least got few hundreds people at the border and immediate area bah. CN most of the rescue effort seems concentrated there, no town or village seems affected on CN side, only the border area.

And given the photos shown, the area all covered under mud and debris liao. And it being the first point of impact of the water coming down before made a turn for much of NP downstream. Likely most of the few hundreds people on CN side hard to survive bah. Now is only to recover and identify.

Human climbing all the ice mountains are causing all the avalanche and instability.

Then they pangsai pangjio on the mountains also creating heat problems.

Then use hammer pickaxe etc to keep knocking on mountains rocks walls ice etc that can cause cracks then landslide.

Really is not 天灾 but more 人祸
The host country didn't ban it coz they need these tourism dollars.

Can change the rules.
At least can see they are the ones putting in their effort in sg's security.
Think if they are invested, then they might not be that responsible in their duty liao. They are there more for the internal conflict than the external. And when come to internal conflict, they cannot take sides. They have to whack and suspress all. Thus, a reason they cannot become part of the people. As asking them to whack their own people would be somewhat conflicting.
