saw it. wonder if its appropiate for them to post those photos

its very disturbing for those who cannot take such graphic photos.

most of the bodies the face swell.

I think they have no choice. As you can see, these affected areas are small towns deep in a valley. Even communication is difficult, let alone normal transportation. I don't think they can transport any bodies to Kathmandu to do forensics at this time as many roads and a dozens bridges were wrecked. Confirm the bodies will rot before their loved ones reach them.

Sometimes we should be more understanding. That's the best they can do. You live in a valley town and 99% are poor folks, what you want to do wor. Of course the Nepalese police there can just paste the photos of the dead and let people snapshot them and transfer to social media lor. Faster this way.

Typical China-hater quoting exaggerated anti-China sources to bash CCP while people are dying left and right.
Well done milking the most out of the blood of thousands of people to further your agenda.

Seems like to you, it's more important to show certain pictures on social media than to have well-equipped rescuers rush and show up on site. When you're stuck in the mud, which one is more important? Have your picture shown to the whole world to become meme, or somebody strong to come look for you and pull you out?
Wow, like that become China hater, so easy that expected! Thank you, someone is trigged.

I don’t hate China people as I have local friends there in China, just dislike how CCP do things in a certain way, 党先才有国, their standard SOP.

I am just saying as this is also not the first time such thing happen when mass casualty event happen that involve China, internal news and discussion are being limit instead of cover truthfully and not allow if not align to CCP narrative.

Same as the group of forumers in this thread questioning why china side officially reported only 3 then 5 then 7 dead.
Cannot asked, later stanlawj said you China hater and Anti-China too.

those who know, will know lah what it mean. From so many disasters events, their numbers always report lower than expected. Nepal said 600-650 dead, China only reported 7 dead, who will believe when we all saw the CCTV footage at the border crossing everything is gone and people are still running when it crash onto them and building gone, that 2 videos cannot even be found on Weibo as they are removed due to 重影响社会稳定。

Think that have always been the practice bah. Play down the perceived negatives. And play up the positives. The past news about disaster and such think also mostly not so much about the disaster and human suffering, but rather how much help and rescue effort. Especially when come to number, its often a mystery. It frustrating for outside to get the full picture of what is actually happening.

Want people to appreciate what they do, think have to first show what is the suffering, then people can relate more. But they tell story like always play down the suffering and play up the helping effort. Thus think many tend feel a certain disconnect there. Cannot see how the two are related and feel for it much. Perhaps why many can't help feel the system seems abit cold somewhat.

At this point in time, isn't playing up rescue efforts better than just revealing death figures? How does revelation of death figures helps - other than to feed our curiosity?

Almost all dead.
No need to say anymore. They run out of oxygen buried under the mud, if still alive.

u mean this 6-7 PRC rescue superhero team that took 54 hrs to reach with abilities to detect lives with just bare hands and sticks r doing meaningless things scouring the valley port?

its like a real-time mirror now with nepal displaying their mobilization, information sharing and rescue efforts performed on a large scale compared to prchina. previous flood disasters inside mainland china nothing to compare against they controlled the narratives completely

Read the room. This is an unprecedented natural disaster.

If China is already sending top-notched rescuers on site, ground excavation machines, live monitoring with images, why are you requoting BBC/CNN/Guardian/CNBC anti-China propaganda? If you don't have access to Chinese social media inside their Great Firewall, then shut up about their social media and just donate money to the victims.

Your nitpicking behaviour is a disgrace to all Singaporeans.

I don't care about this.

Why you all so particular about the continuously updated CONFIRMED dead as opposed to MIA/unconfirmed?
Body found and not breathing = DEAD.

Body not found means MIA/unconfirmed. You got proof to call them dead?

But just look at the mudslide pictures, everyone at the Gyirong port is dead. No need to argue about their official stats. Let the officials do their official jobs, we just observe and learn instead of squabbling and pointing fingers at each other.

This guy also interesting dragging geopolitics in this incident. Does his message makes sense ?

This is why I don't use Instagram as sole source of news. Need secondary supporting sources.
X is better. Also have Grok AI to fact-check.

Sai kang. Truly depressing work. Rushing against time in a hopeless situation to find survivors before they die of thirst or hunger or hypothermia.

It takes someone truly special to function as rescuer in this situation. I can't be a rescuer. Yet I have commonsense not to criticise them and their employers (govt).

Ahhhh you must be one of those climate change denialist
"climate change" has been distorted.

We have warming and cooling cycles spanning millenia. Isn't this cyclical climate change?

No, the "Climate change" in inverted commas that you are referring to, is a political narrative to justify rich elite 1% class reduce the living standards of the rest of the 99% so that the elite can continue to enjoy most of the resources of the earth.

Just look at AI: you must reduce your carbon emissions, yet it is fine for AI to consume so much electricity, water, and metals thus creating even larger carbon emissions.

Rescue who. Who are those being rescued. Like playing with imaginary people. How do people relate to that. :s22:

You got the wrong people. I did not question why china official dead tally so low. I am saying there is this group of forumers in this thread or should i say all china related threads can see same group of forumers. Better limit the geopolitical posts later this thread got abolished to cal.

ok noted.
One thing, people need to realise now is that ALL the rescuers are in danger of being buried by an impending mudslide 2.0.
Just a matter of time when the two temporary lakes higher up break dam.
