all dead. No need to think about it. Hundreds.
What is more concerning is that THE RESCUERS are also gonna get buried anytime if they are not careful. They are closest to the 2 temporary lakes that will break anytime soon.

Still no updates on how many were found at the customs building or is there a concrete number? Very worrying ...
If nepal can find, means the other side can find also..
The mud cover all the way to the top of the port gate/building.

yes agree, the rescuers are brave and should worry for their safety.

honestly i dont think anyone will be found at that area given it got the full impact force of the flashflood/mudslide. 99.99% will be wash few km down the river towards NP end. Uphill towards CN end, if any found unlikely to be a full body. With the force of the flood plus the weight of the concrete slab/rock debris will just tear the body apart like paper.

There could be folks who are at edge of the flood just barely managed to escape needing help. Or residences at higher elevations cut off from civilization. Cannot simply assume all 100% dead and hopeless.

If they are all dead then it's a recovery effort.

Hmmm read a bit through the last few comments...let's all be civil and calm....donate to help the relief efforts

There is no need to start the blame game....do what is best for everyone
- No point in pointing fingers at China for their Construction projects up stream
- No point in pointing fingers at China for their lack of effort to give advance warnings to Nepal downstream
- No point to talk about Tibet and politics of China in downplaying disasters

Hopefully after this, they will all sit down and discuss how to prevent the next one from happening again
- Early warning system
- Unified command and monitoring agency
- Barriers to give locals ample time to evacuate
- Safety houses that are build on higher ground
- Tsunami last resort escape capsules

Transparency takes precedence over rescue effort? Sorry, I totally disagree. Transparency can come later.

this is the daftest take ever. how much manpower, equipment, medical supplies n other resources to be sent all depends on figures. then it goes if the authorities have such information what is stopping them from publishing? if they dont have the information on hand then it is pure incompetence isnt it.

Transparency allows the right decisions to be made based on actual facts. You might want to watch Chernobyl the TV series to understand how the suppression of the facts hampered effort to rescue and contain the situation.

They give figures but some don't believe. Then how?

Historically large scale way to adjust the human population… the death rates should be way higher 2-3 thousand years ago

I can read your hidden motivations clearly: CCP is lying bunch of sh*t and caused this disaster.

Over here, we are now focused on the disaster and the victims.
Currently everything is already as transparent as it can get: CCTV camera footage, public satellite images, drone videos from Chinese tourists, phone cameras from Nepal (because most Chinese dead), international social media postings, uncensored, unthrottled...all within hours to 1 day, faster than MSM.
You're saying it's STILL not transparent enough, and this is Chernobyl cover-up, which is totally NONSENSE.

So take your personal political views elsewhere. To Current Affairs, may I suggest.

That's why how to believe such low numbers with videos like these out...

Need time to tally and ID. If media shows a left arm and two legs being found without body, is it automatically add 1 (or is it 2 or even 3) to the death count? How?

Wait for final figures then question.
